  1. You should feel lucky as there's some system utilities that will revert to C:\ itself if the global Temp folder isn't found, and we know what that details - any file not in-use or locked would get deleted on drive C:\.
  2. Yup. For me though it's mostly the Final Fantasy soundtracks which in reality could fit right inside a huge budget movie. Like I said it's difficult for me not to like it being I've always had a gaming console since the first Atari I had (it's been so long I don't even remember the name of that Atari console) however I do remember when I got a Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1985 and played the hell of Namco's Pacman (em ghosts are tasty). Too bad Ms Pacman was fat, which could explain why Pacman had a thing for eating ghosts.
  3. I started liking black metal and death metal purely for the guitar's and the overall melody, and let's be frank it may be in a genre called "metal" however in reality it's just heavy rock music. A misconception is that it's "all" about death, torture, satanism (thank braindead shitheads like the PRMC for spreading infested bulls**t), when in fact there's some very heavy bands that you'll never see/hear associated with such. Most of the bands I like do have a good melody, e.g.; there's still some heavy rockers that have some rhythm, most of the stuff I listen to have a sound you could at least tap your feet to while listening to it - it isn't all just random noise and guttural vocals. I've personally recorded 7 black metal and death metal demos and albums with some area bands in the past years, and thankfully they've all been good musicians with a past in other areas such as classical, classical rock, etc. I've did one all on my own which is more-or-less a random mixture of hard rock, black metal, death metal, with a twist of neo classical (listen to some of Yngwie Malmsteen for a reference of neo classical). As for things being heavy, no I can't stand non-stop heaviness all the time, hence I throw on some 80's Deep Purple, GNR (which happened to be some heavy s**t back in the day), Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, and the opera-like metal sound of SavaTage and Candlemass. Let the truth be known my music tastes are completely stuck and deeply rutted in the years 1980's to 1990's, the only current music I like are from bands that were around at the least by the late 1990's, current year 2000 and above "metal" bands (wouldn't really call them metal bands anymore) aren't that appealing unless they have that "old school" sound. I like my music like I like Ferrari's from the 80's and 90's, at least the old stuff I continue listening to doesn't have the damned DRM on the discs.
  4. That's the only way I know of to make blocked site's compatibly with multiple programs since I input them into CookieCop, Mozilla Suite, and the HOSTS file and wouldn't you know it they all have a different format of how sites are entered. It would be nice if all web browsers could at least read the HOSTS file to import it's blocked list to take out all the manual copying and pasting which takes for ever when there's thousands of entries. At least you're not trying to do it with Internet Explorer, hence you'd be copying each site into the Restricted Cookies/Sites one by one for several days/weeks/months.
  5. If you have this enabled, disable it under: Cleaner->Windows tab->Advanced Options->Window Size/Location Cache ...or it may be this one: Cleaner->Windows tab->Advanced Options->Menu Order Cache
  6. I don't know why it does that, however you can manually size the open window (not maximize), and then position it to fit your screen.
  7. I'm not sure if this will work or not, however it's worth a try: Input the actual file path, e.g.; if regshot.exe is in C:\WINDOWS input into the .reg file this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Regshot][HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Regshot\command]@="%windir%\regshot.exe" If that doesn't work perhaps this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Regshot][HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Regshot\command]@="c:\windows\regshot.exe" If it works, you should be able to move those files into a proper programs files location, and use the path %programfiles% so that the .exe can be found, or just leave them in C:\WINDOWS
  8. If I'm understanding correctly you wish to convert your HOSTS file into a Mozilla/Mozilla Firefox block list. This is what I do: 1. Open three text editor Windows, e.g.; open Notepad three times. 2. Open the HOSTS file in one Notepad window. 3. Copy all the HOSTS file entries and paste them into the second Notepad window. 4. Copy all the HOSTS file entries and paste them into the third Notepad window. 5. Close the HOSTS window, leaving the other two Notepad windows open ------------- Changing the format string to work with Mozilla/Mozilla Firefox Converting the HOSTS format into the blocked Mozilla/Mozilla Firefox cookies format: 1. Open your userprofile\Application Data folder that contains the Mozilla Firefox folder. Find this file: hostperm.1 2. Open hostperm.1 with Notepad. 3. Highlight the HOSTS format string in one of the two open Notepad windows which is either 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 and replace all using the file menu tool Edit>Replace>Replace All it with this: host cookie 2 leave this Notepad window open. 4. Go to the other Notepad window and highlight the HOSTS format string in one of the two open Notepad windows which is either 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 and replace all using the file menu tool Edit>Replace>Replace All it with this: host image 2 5. Copy one of the Notepad window contents into the other Notepad window to combine all the entries. Now copy those entries into the Mozilla/Mozilla Firefox hostperm.1 file and save the file. 6. Open and then close Mozilla Firefox so that it can automatically sort the list. 7. You may want to confirm the settings by looking at the block site/cookie list in Mozilla Firefox. Remember to backup the hostperm.1 file! Example:
  9. Backups are stored in the '...RegSeeker\Backup' folder, just double click it to restore it, you may want to open the .reg file in something like Notepad to see exactly what it removed which I highly recommend doing since sometimes RegSeeker removes more than what it lists/what you think it's removed - always look at the backup it made! If you need a rather big exclude list I can post it in here, the exclude list I built will protect a number of software titles/windows settings that RegSeeker will F'up royally.
  10. Not retarded at all. I remember some early first gen PlayStation 1 games that had the audio tracks on the game disc as if they were and audio CD, the tracks could be ripped with an audio CD ripping program - of course I ripped all the tracks of my games that were made that way, too bad game developers don't have them that way now. Probably the most game music I have is from the Final Fantasy soundtracks, I also like the qwerky techo sound from Descent 3 (my favorite spaceship fighter game of all time) which was downloadable in low quality 128kbps mp3 format many years ago on mp3.com by AutoPilot.
  11. Most of the options are already pre-configured during setup with good settings. I would however highly recommend that you download Columns UI and a few pre-configured format strings from the Columns UI website since it will take the bland default user interface to something very appealing and more useful. If you spend about one or two hours here and there playing around in Columns UI you should be able to configure the GUI to your own preferred look and ease-of-use. Mine is dead plain but that's how I like it.
  12. I forgot to mention I do like video game type music as well, sort of hard to not like it since I grew up in the video game era which is still popular.
  13. The only way to speed up those free online virus scans is to disable your resident/real-time protection in your installed antivirus, which is what I've been doing for 5+ years when using online virus scanning services. Now if I leave eTrust EZ Antivirus' real-time protection on my scan at MSWLSC would take at least 25% longer, it's currently at about 28 minutes to scan, well it actually takes approximately the same amount of time to scan my whole system as eTrust EZ Antivirus does.
  14. It can be sized down to this: or you can just use it via the systray which has playback controls using the Default User Interface and with Columns UI. The visualization window isn't appealing at all so I'd have to agree. However it can be completely disabled, and removed from the GUI via right clicking the menu area. FB2K wasn't conceived to be another WMP or Winamp, hence the reason it loads so fast and has a wide playlist area that makes it easy to see the artist, title and album without necessarily having to click upon the file properties. To each their own though, because I used Winamp for years and there wasn't any way to convince me that anything was "better" up until Winamp started having skipping problems in practically every audio file I played - hence my exodus to FB2K. As far as player mem usage goes it does matter what type of audio format you're playing, e.g.; when playing Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) I've seen the mem usage go up 1MB or so however I'm used to seeing about 7MB usage while it's loaded and not playing a track, however that spikes to around 8.5MB when playing a track.
  15. That's why I immediately run CCleaner, EasyCleaner, and RegSeeker after deleting them, I don't know if there's any other remnants since I only run those three which are pretty thourough (well enough for me) when ran back-to-back.
  16. I listen to Hard Rock, Instrumental Metal ("Instrumetal"), Instrumental Rock, and Metal. For the past ten years I've primarily listened to Black Metal, and Death Metal and it even sounds lite/easy listening to me now - nothing is heavy enough anymore. This isn't even close to all the stuff I like since I have over 2000 audio CD's: Accept, Amorphis, Benediction, Black Sabbath, Bolt Thrower, Candlemass, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Cathedral, Coroner, Danzig, Death, Demolition Hammer, Dimmu Borgir, Dio, Dismember, Grave, Grip Inc., Emperor, Entombed (their old stuff when they played death metal), HammerFall, Hypocrisy, Incantation, Jason Becker, Joe Satriani, Judas Priest, Kreator, King Diamond, Mayhem, Mercyful Fate, Meshuggah, Moonspell, Morbid Angel, Motorhead, MSG, Napalm Death, Nevermore, Overkill, Ozzy Osbourne, Paradise Lost (up to the 1995 release Draconian Times), Primus, Pungent Stench, Raise Hell, Samael, Savatage, Six Feet Under, Slaughter (Canada) (no not the glam-metal band from the late 80's-90's), Slayer, Steve Vai, Tiamat, Trouble, Type O Negative, Unleashed, Vinnie Moore, Vision Of Disorder, Yngwie Malmsteen

    slow startup

The registry itself may need to be compacted/defragged using either RegCompact.NET or NTREGOPT.
  18. After you delete them you may want to run several registry cleaners because the one in CCleaner ("Issues") won't find all the left over remnants in the registry.
  19. Ha ha ha I can't believe you'd even take the time to decipher it, just goes to show that typos exist in the "beeping language," maybe we should start typing all our posts in Klingon.
  20. I'm also using a Columns UI format string that I completely customized.
  21. If you are at all worried use the current stable release version which is 0.8.3, that's the very I happen to be using at the moment however I "may" give the beta a spin later on. Pretty harsh words for one of the best damned audio players ever created. Care to elaborate since you're publically putting it down? I'm dying to know why you think it "sucks" right here in the forum and not via a PM! Fb2k is a feature rich audio player that plays a plethora of audio formats, I tried Winamp again just a few days ago and it only lasted a few minutes on my system since it's functionality doesn't even come close to fb2k's. Btw the developer used to make Winamp plugins some years ago! Right on brother! Here's a high five for speakin' the truth!
  22. Version number in the taskbar! 5.12 looks the same.
  23. How about Winamp? You've got an old version installed. Mine, nothing much has changed since I posted it a while back on the forums.
