  1. Try to install it using an account with Administrator priveleges.
  2. ...now I'm waiting to see how long it will take for us complainers to get banned.
  3. Brillant ideal, and I've just adopted it as well since I had initially left it checked.
  4. It feels so good to be an unvalued MS beta tester. One problem I would contribute to it is a few hours ago I rebooted and upon startup my theme reverted to Disney Land hell with the default blue theme - I almost vomited on my LCD.
  5. You wasted your time to write that, and mine to read it.
  6. Call me a skeptical user of so-called "freeware" because I've previously been bitten when previously clean programs all of a sudden started to come bundled with toolbars, etc., after I had donated to incourage the continuation of development as freeware without some questionable s**t bundled into the installer - which I'd never use or recommend in a million years. I never donate to any software anymore for that very reason, call it a paranoia omen. It's also the reason why I use an older version of IrfanView since the only thing good about Yahoo in my opinion is Yahoo! TV, but my praises for them bluntly end there as I block everything else they have. Edit: Fixed typo's.
  7. It shouldn't be that way! The clean builds should clearly be linked on the main page and not nestled (hidden) from plain view.
  8. Currently the CCleaner license to my knowledge doesn't say it can't be used for businesses, institutes, organizations. However with some freeware you have to read the license since they're for personal usage only, e.g.; one person, one pc, a family, a families pc's, but in general people don't pay any attention to license agreements and don't even bother reading them.
  9. You may need to run CHKDSK on your system, scan all hard drives just make sure you check both options in the GUI so that it can scan the disk surface. Depending upon the size of your disk(s) it can take several hours.
  10. Your major problem that I can see at this time is you have the Caption Buttons set to Jupiter size, they're way to freakin' big. From the image they're sized at 37x35 pixels. Downsize them via: Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Display > Appearance > Advanced > Caption Buttons A size of about 20 is a good size to start at
  11. What exactly do you mean by "get LCD monitor looking OK"? Are you talking about how fonts look on screen or something else?
  12. I'm just waiting to see if anti-spyware programs start detecting the setup file as an adware installer. With that said CCleaner only cleans things I already have a single batch file configured to do but with a GUI. I only hope CCleaner regains its once-had glory of being considered adware free such as the Softpedia.com 100% Award which isn't to be taken lightly in this day an age with adware and spyware rampant. Although AntiVir has detected CCleaner's setup file in the past as a Trojan now it will be difficult to refute that it isn't giving anymore false positive detections - hence the inclusion of the Yahoo Toolbar, however I suspect that switching to a different installation compiler altogether such as Inno Setup for example "may" cure false positives if the Yahoo Toolbar is removed. To be perfectly honest I'd rather CCleaner become commercial pay-for-it software without the added Yahoo Toolbar. I guess nothing lasts forever.
  13. It's alright and a hell of a lot better than MSAS, now the GUI isn't a sluggish snail. Also I got what I was hoping for, the updates can be downloaded via Automatic Updates.
  14. Thank you MrG for CCleaner (Slim). Agreed!
  15. A word of advice delete those .tmp files in normal Windows mode, mass file deletions and everything else is slooow in Safe Mode. Also you can use a saved batch file to delete all that junk without ever having to type it in again. Example (actually this should cover it all): del /q "%temp%\*.tmp"del /q "%userprofile%\temp\*.tmp"del /q "%windir%\temp\*.tmp" If any of the .tmp files are locked download Disk Cleaner, it can delete the contents of the mapped temp folder on reboot and get rid of any locked in-use files. Edit: Also make sure you're using your disk cleaning utilities on a daily basis, e.g.; CCleaner and whatever else you have installed. A program that can search your whole system (all drives and folders) for junk files like .tmp is EasyCleaner.
  16. That reminds me of some ole 1980's movie where there's a little kid that's a paperboy who wants his two dollars and he stalks John Cusack's character all through the movie to get it.
  17. After your log is analyzed you "may" need the Microsoft User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.
  18. Battlestar Galactica (the new series), Formula 1, World Rally Championship, and that's it. T.V. sucks anymore, too many crappy ass stupid reality T.V. shows that make me want to pitch-vomit I hate them all. If only some T.V. shows similiar the 70's and 80's would appear, I royally miss shows that had tons of car chases in them.
  19. Use Windows Task Scheduler to do it. Just input the parameters: "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe" /AUTO
  20. The HOSTS file should also be set as read-only, and a backup should be created, e.g.; HOSTS.backup in the same folder with the original.
  21. For Anti-DRMist like us there's Magnatune.com which seems like a saviour at the moment, downloads are in multiple formats; Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, etc., or to just have the CD sent to you at an additional cost, they even let people re-download music they've already purchased.
  22. "Maybe" or "probably" from what's been listed in the winapp2.ini page.
  23. Uncheck Office 2003 in: 1. Cleaner > Applications > Applications > Office 2003 2. Reconfigure Office 2003 to your liking, then close it. 3. Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard. This will insure your settings are backed up into My Documents should your settings get wiped out again.
  24. Some programs (not all) that won't install/uninstall properly will sometimes work without any problems when doing the install/uninstall in Safe Mode.
  25. On Windows XP you can get some programs to repair themselves simply by renaming them, e.g.; renaming somefile.exe to somefile-old.exe will cause some files to automatically be restored from a backup. That's what I did when I found out that my OEM version of the WinXP Pro install CD doesn't have any files on it that can be manually extracted to restore Microsoft Backup which all of a sudden stopped working.
