  1. Hello,

normally I don't have any problems using CCleaner Cloud.

Today I recognized an yellow warning icon at the CCleaner Cloud icon in the system tray.

When I move the mouse pointer over the CCleaner Cloud icon, the status is "Connecting..." (for 20 minutes now).

My internet connection is available and very stable.

When I log into the CCleaner Cloud website, my computer is shown as "Offline".

But on the main page of CCleaner Cloud (https://www.ccleanercloud.com/computers#main) I see in the events that I have logged in.

This is a bit wired, because when I am "Offline" why can CCleaner Cloud track my log in time?

I have started my computer 5 times but this did not help.

Is this a problem with the servers?

    Greetings

  2. Hello,

a new enhancement for the "Update Manager" feature:

    Replaced applications

Please show a warning, when an installed application is no longer available (form the vendor) because it is replaced by an other application.

    Example:

I have a Canon printer and some tools from Canon installed.

Today I checked if there are news versions of these tools available but on the Canon website the tool Canon Solution Menu EX is no longer available.

A Google search led me to the following page: http://www.canon.de/support/pixma_software/

At this page you can read the following passage in German language: Beachten Sie bitte, dass Quick Menu Solution Menu EX ersetzt.
Translated into English language: Please note that Canon Solution Menu is replaced by Quick Menu.

It would be very cool when CCleaner Cloud would report this to me.

So I could download the new application (for the old application I will never receive an update, so normal update managers fail here).

    Greetings

  3. Hello,

in my suggestion for CCleaner Desktop I wrote how files and folders should be added to the list of files/folders that should be deleted.

I add this information here too.

I think of two possible ways of adding files and folders:

    1. drag files and folders from a file manager to CCleaner Cloud (browser window)
    2. a button that opens a "select files/folder" dialog

In both cases the selected files/folders are added to a "deletion" list.

When I click the "Wipe" button the files/folders from this list are secure deleted on my PC.

    Hope these details help.

  5. Hello,

in CCleaner (Desktop) I miss a feature to wipe (securely delete) single files and single folders.

I know there are other tools on the market that perform this, but in CCleaner you offer the wipe feature already, so please extend it to single files and folders.

Let me add single files and folders that I want to delete to a list and then execute the deletion of all files on the list with one click.

This way I can add multiple files and folders to the list and then start the wipe.

It would be a feature that makes CCleaner more powerful and a consequent step in the evolution of CCleaner.

Note: this feature is also missing in CCleaner Cloud so I added this suggestion also to the CCleaner Cloud Forums here:

  7. Hello,

I started the Drive Wiper in CCleaner Cloud to secure delete (overwrite) the free space of an external HDD.

Here the message Drive wipe requested... is shown for a very long time now.

First you should change the text to Drive wipe in progress...

Next you should show a progress in %, so the user can estimate how long this will take.

It would be perfect when you also show an estimated remaining time.

    Greetings

  8. Hello,

I saw in CCleaner Cloud at "Installed Software" that:

    • some applications/games don't have a version number
    • some applications/games have an invalid version number

I know that CCleaner Cloud reads this data from the list of installed applications in Windows (I have Windows 10 Pro).
If I open this list in the control panel then I see the same problems.

If you implement the suggestion "Update Manager" (CCleaner Cloud scans my computer for installed applications and then informs me when there are new versons available) then the correct detection of my installed applications is essential!
The suggestion "Update Manager" can be found here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=43816

Here is a list of incorrect version numbers.
The "Version displayed" is the version number, hat is shown in CCleaner Cloud.

In this posting I sent the data of all applications with invalid version numbers.

But I did not check all of my installed applications (just the applications, that don't have a version number and applications, where I know that the version number is invalid).

I will send drivers and also games (they are shown in CCleaner Cloud) with invalid version numbers after my vacation.

You see that detecting the correct version number is not always easy, because

    • some applications don't write a version number in the list of installed applications
    • some applications write a version number when they are installed, but when they are updated they don't update the version number

So either you encourage the developers worldwide to write proper version information (nearly impossible).

Or you have do determine the version yourself (sometimes the "File Version" helps and sometimes the "Product Version" helps).

In alternative way would be to work with hashes (MD5 or SHA) for each file, so you know the version of an application by storing the hash together with valid version information.

  9. Hello,

in CCleaner Cloud you have in the "Startup" section (in the "Software" tab) a combo box where I can select the startup entries for a specific user.

In the list of strtup entries there are some entries for the user "All users".

In the combo box there is also an entry "All Users".

I expected that this entry selects only entries for the user "All users", but this entry shows all entries.

    A bit confusing.

And I have no way to select startup entries for the user "All Entries".

    So I suggest that you

    • rename the entry "All Users" in the combo box to "All Startup Entries"
    • add an new entry "All Users" that shows only the entries for the user "All users"

This avoids confusion and gives the user a new filter method.

So it increases the usability of CCleaner Cloud.

  10. Hello,

in CCleaner Desktop I have in Tools -> Startup a "wide" view where every startup entry is displayed in one single line.

Please add such an optional wide view in the startup manager of CCleaner Cloud.

It would be very useful to see each startup entry in each line.

    Greetings

  11. Hello,

in CCleaner Cloud I miss a filter field in the "Startup" section (in the "Software" tab) where I can filter for text (as you have it in the "Installed Software").

If you have many startup entries (an multiple users on the machine) then such a filter field would be very useful.

This increases the usability a lot.

  12. Hello,

again an enhancement for the (hopefully already in development) Update-Manager:

Notify about new versions even when the target system is offline

CCleaner Cloud knows what applications and what versions of the applications I have installed.

So you can inform the user by email when a new version of an installed application is available.

And you can inform the user even when the target computer is offline.

    Reason:

I have my PC running every day, but my wife turns on her laptop not very often.

So it would be useful when I get informed that on her PC some applications needs to be updated.

    Greetings

  13. Hello,

I have read in an article on the German c't magazine that Adobe fixes 92 vulnerabilities in Acrobat and Reader at the current patch-day.

Here is the link to the article:

    http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Adobe-Patchday-Fix-fuer-Flash-Zero-Day-erst-mal-nur-fuer-Windows-3203019.html

In this article you see the bold headline "92 Sicherheitslücken in Acrobat und Reader" what means "92 security issues in Acrobat and Reader".

  14. Hello,

if you plan to implement the update manager, please offer also a way where the user can skip a specific application and also a specific version.

    • Skip an application
This excludes the application from the update process (the user will no longer get informed when an update for this application is available)

    • Skip a specific version
The user gets only informed when a new release is published, no matter what type of release (major release or minor release) it is.
Example: user has version 6.5 installed, 6.5.1 is offered and he skips this version (6.5.1), then he gets only informed when a version higher than 6.5.1 is released.

    • Skip a major version.
If the user skips a major version, then he does not get informed when a minor update within the major release is published.
Example: user has version 6.5 installed and version 7.1 is offered.
When he skips this major version, then all updates of version 7.x are not shown, but he gets informed when 6.6 is released.
Useful for applications you have to buy the new version and the user does not want to buy the next release (but he wants to get updates for the current release).

Skipping is useful to keep the list of available updates small.

And to get only informed when an relevant update is offered.

    Greetings

  15. Hello,

in CCleaner Cloud you have at the section "Software" an option to "Add Software".

Here you offer also "Adobe Reader DC".

I know that the Adobe Reader is very popular in many companies.

And it is also installed on many private computers.

If you read actual security bulletins then you can see that there are may security issues in Adobe Reader and in Adobe Flash.

Adobe releases every month security updates (also for the Adobe Reader) and more frequent security updates for urgent problems.

So why do you offer such a dangerous app?

What if a user installs the Adobe Reader and then gets infected or hacked?

Can you (Piriform) get problems here?

  16. Hello,

in CCleaner Cloud you have at the section "Software" an option to "Add Software".

This is a cool feature because I can install an application with one mouse click to multiple computers.

I have some more applications that you may add to this list:

    • KeePass (very famous and free password manager)
    • FreeFileSync (powerful file synchronization tool)
    • FileZilla (excellent FTP client)
    • MP3tag (free MP3 tag editor that has some powerful features)
    • LibreOffice (free office suite)

I decided to add just those 5 applications, because I know them all very well and I really can recommend them.
