  1. 62 processes running! Still running normal, noticing no lag at all. I've even got that bloated winamp opened and running, along with FF!
  2. Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I've been doing good. Have gotten really far in my web adventures, and hope to continue expanding! As things are sort of settling down now, I will attempt to be on here a bit, sharing my new learned knowledge with all of you. I have to say, if it weren't for this site right here, I probably wouldn't be where I am today in the web industry! Thanks everyone! Aaron
  3. Stole from another site, can't remember which one. Laws of Computer Programming Any given program, when running, is obsolete. If a program is useless, it will have to be documented. If a program is useful, it will have to be changed. Any program will expand to fill any available memory. The value of a program is proportional to the weight of its output. Program complexity grows until it exceeds the capability of the programmer to maintain it. Make it possible for programmers to write in English and you will find that programmers cannot write in English. Bradley's Bromide: If computers get too powerful, we can organize them into a committee - that will do them in. Weinberg's Law: If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization. Hoare's Law of Large Programs: Inside every large program is a small program struggling to get out. Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later.
  4. Not sure about the first one, but the second one has links. Myspace- http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...riendid=6895777 Google Search- http://www.google.com/search?q=baseball4ly...lient=firefox-a Maybe you know him? But it doesn't sound like a bot to me as it didn't send you spammy links. On second thought, maybe it was a friend pulling a prank on you, they have sites where you can do that. Ebaumsworld is one of them. -aaron
  5. I would say, use someones that's not well known, I use mine. You could even make your own. This way, the images stay up forever.
  6. anyway to convert aac music files to mp3? tried a couple free programs, but with no success. thanks in advance. -aaron
  7. ha, i never thought to look in the manual, or the bios! i was told it couldnt be changed, but i doubted that. thanks guys -aaron
  8. I believe a HD caddy would work. I would just be sure you can return it before you purchase it. I'm not sure why it asks you to format it in your pc.
  9. It may be the drivers. Try reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, go to control panel. Click on sounds and audio devices. Click on audio, and under sound recording is where you have to set it. Check the drop down menu to be sure that's set right, then click on volume. Make sure the microphone, or line in is selected. (That's what I do when it plugs right into the mic input.) If the mic plugs in via USB, the settings in the camera software must be set right. Then do the previous step.
  10. If the power turns off and back on, my pc does not turn back on automatically. Is there any way to make it do this? http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelme...2=11&l3=194 That's my MB.
  11. OK, why wait for someone with website building experience? I pretty much got the site taken care of for now, just need to figure out how to make the screen saver. Let me know if you find a site or something that teaches how to make one. I looked all over google but couldn't find a single one. Thanks for the help.
  12. I want it to run off of pictures on the web. So users can upload pictures on my site, they go to a file, then the screensaver uses those pictures and updates immediently. Does that do what I need?
  13. how can i create a screen saver from scratch? i want it to be a slideshow with pictures, BUT i want it to use pictures on the web in a certain directory. thanks in advance -aaron
  14. didnt have time to read all the way through but i think i could figure it out. i believe with images you have to install windows on the one you want the primary to be, install the image software, then use the software to transfer the image to the drive. wait, how big is the image? maybe you can boot up to it?
  15. i like azureus for torrents. bitcomet would be my second choice.
  16. well, i think with tor you're running out of a different country. which means that that country doesnt have to give up its logs to another country. thats just what ive heard..
  17. Well here's the guide, it was made by loyx from GSS. Want to significantly decrease your chances of getting caught using torrents without slowing down your download/upload speed? Then read on.. (this applies to windows users though it shouldn't be much different for mac os x and linux) Please remember that after doing this there is still a chance of getting caught! Here is the list of programs you'll need: PeerGuardian - This program blocks IPs or IP ranges that belong to any company that enforces copyright law, such as the RIAA or the MPAA, which is all kept on a handy blocklist that automatically updates everyday. It can also be used to block IP ranges that belong to the government, schools/universities, spyware companies, and more. (http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading...mirror=easynews) Vidalia (tor and privoxy bundle) - Vidalia is a GUI to TOR, which is an extremely anonymous, and reasonably reliable proxy. You can browse it to browse anonymously like any other proxy. Privoxy ensures that the application you are using to connect to tor won't leak certain information that is not blocked by TOR. (http://tor.eff.org/dist/vidalia-bundles/vi...2.14-0.0.11.exe) uTorrent - One of the best torrent programs available, and very easy to set up. For the simplicity of this tutorial, use this program to download your torrents. (http://download.utorrent.com/1.6.1/uTorren...6.1-install.exe) Tor button Firefox extension - Used to test (or use) TOR. Instead of changing the settings in firefox everytime you want to use TOR, all you have to do is click TOR BUTTON and it does all that for you.. and when you're done, just click the tor button again. It's really that simple. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2275) After downloading and installing everything, let's set everything up. First, let's set up PeerGuardian. Just set it up to block P2P and Government, and make sure HTTP is unblocked. Click check update to see if there are any updates. After updating, go to the settings tab, click next, check the 'auto update every...' box if it isn't already checked, then set it to 1 day. Now click the protection tab. You have now set up PeerGuardian. Note that if you are playing a game there is a chance that peerguardian might block the game's servers. In this case, either disable peerguardian or unblock the IP by going to peerguardian, right click the IP it is blocking, and click UNBLOCK FOREVER. Now let's set up Vidalia and Privoxy. All you have to do here is right click on the vidalia symbol and click start. Now wait a minute, and test it out. Open firefox and click the little button that says "Tor Disabled." Now it should be green, and obviously, it'll say "Tor Enabled." Try browsing around. If it works, you are ready to set up the torrents. First make sure the torrents is set to an open port, and try downloading something simple like a linux distro, after you know that works, you're ready to set it up with TOR. Open up uTorrent, then go to options, then preferences, then click on connection. Set up the proxy section like so: MAKE SURE USE PROXY FOR P2P CONNECTIONS IS *NOT* CHECKED. This method is extremely slow and just ruins it for the rest of us using TOR. Now go download the torrent you want (download the torrent file using TOR) and try downloading the torrent with uTorrent. If all goes well, then, um, it works! If not, post here and i'll try to help.
  18. I like tor, you should also consider using privoxy with it.
  19. Firewall>main. set both to medium. if that doesnt work go to firewall>zones>add IP range. im not quite sure what to add but i believe its 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.25, someone correct me if im wrong. -aaron
  20. I don't use tiger direct because others dont. Newegg is what I like, since everyone else suggests it. I believe it's cheaper too!
  21. can this have a live input though? it doesnt look like it supports that.
  22. would this work with my MB? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130062
  23. right now im using the onboard video but im looking to buy a card. here's my motherboard. i had a rage128 card but it didnt fit so i left it on my old pc. what card you you think i should get? around $100. i need one with all the connections for firewire, S-video, composit video/sound cables, ect.. also, i want dual monitor. i have 2 monitors but am wondoring how it will plug in as i believe theres only 1 connection on video cards. could i use the onboard? doesnt every video card support 2 monitors? thanks all -aaron
  24. I would like to create some chroma key software which does everything live. I'd like to import video from a camcorder live, take out the background (usually green) live, select different backgrounds and change backgrounds live, then have a live output onto a tv monitor so whoever is in front of the green screen will see themself infront of my random video. I guess the question is, what could I make this in? Anyone know? And, is anyone willing to help if I do most of the work? I'll wait to hear back! -aaron
  25. it all sounds good but it seems like a lot of work. could a batch program be made or something to automatically do this?
