  1. Thanks for moving to it's own thread and providing links to a few other previous threads.

This issue is something very new, within the last few months that's been happening.

I reviewed the above links and they seem to be from around 2016- 2019. Interestingly, they seem to have a commonality: Windows 10.

A few months ago, I performed a fresh and new Windows installation, back to Windows 10 from Windows 11. I didn't experience this with Windows 11 which I stayed with more than 2 years.

As I mentioned, when it does happen it's quite random and the interval is the same as before in terms of giving Firefox time to close completely.

Anyway, this is more of  minor annoyance than anything. I'm not going to uninstall/reinstall Firefox because unlike Chrome, it doesn't restore all your settings including themes like Chrome synch does.  I now think this might be related to Windows 10 too.

  2. Same problem here. I was about to make a new post about it.

I am  getting the false positive error that FF is open and asking my permission to close before [manual] cleaning. FF  including  other Mozilla service are not running as I have verified within TaskManager and Process Hacker.

I have everything on manual, no updater, no smartcleaning. I use Custom Clean.

Also, the last time FF was updated for me was on April 2. The issue happened moments ago.

This isn't a major problem, just a minor annoyance which started happening a few CCC versions ago.  I'm using W10.

  3. Necroposting?  I have Office 365 installed and have for a few years now.

The OP and others need to learn how to format their posts better. It's hard to read and understand their problem when everything is crammed together. They should use [multiple] paragraphs to separate their points and make it easier for others to help them.

Anyway, maybe lock this thread? @nukecad

  4. Just an update. I realized what's going on.

I unticked IE for cleaning to speed up the process. I went ahead and enabled the settings for IE cleaning (there's no IE in Windows 11) and now it's cleaning fine.

But if I run analyze again, this nasty file keeps on being shown and like a Zombie, you can kill it but it keeps coming back: ---
    C:\Users\MYPC\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Low\SuggestedSites.dat    5,121 KB

  5. It seems CCleaner has followed the old trend started around 20 years ago with light and thin colored fonts which make it ridiculously difficut to read . There is ample evidence and literature this is not only aesthetically unpleasant but also hard on one's eyes.

To further add insult, the site won't let you log-in if you use an adblocker/anti-fingerprinting extensions.

I'd suggest that the vast majority of users will soon get used to it as just being how CCleaner now looks.

    I'd suggest otherwise.

This is a terrible change. Who asked for this? Clearly not the real users, but some developers who don't seem to care about our user experience. And what's up with all the cookies on the support page?

I think a vote/poll on this would be prudent Maybe then they will see how unpopular this is.

And how do we contact these developers anyway?  I feel they  need to hear from us loud and clear. We are the ones who use their product regularly and it seems they don't.

nukecad - I know the nag screen has been around for a while.  I'll get used to it.  Ccleaner is an excellent program.  I've been using it since it was in Beta.  As you might recall it was called crapcleaner💩 back then.

Wow, you must have a lot of patience to put up with that nag screen.

It's like having a fly buzzing around your ear every time you use CC. And don't get me started on the name change. Crapcleaner was way more catchy and honest back in the day. You should demand better from a program that you've been loyal to for so long. Don't settle for crap, literally.

Thanks for raising this. I've also posted a separate topic about it as well. I can't understand why it's suddenly appeared. It's very annoying, isn't it? I'd also like to get rid of it.

It's always a good idea to include the link when referring to another topic :)

TBH I always found found cleaning of ie to be a bit slow, even though I never used it.

That's why I now only keep those 2 sections ticked.

You could untick everything for ie in Win 11 and see if it makes a difference for you.
I doubt it will though, my money is that something in Windows Security/Defender causes CCleaner to sometimes slow down following a Windows update.

I agree with you. Windows Security/Defender does slow things down in general and it's becoming worse it seems.

The "best" speed I now can attain is 3.88 seconds with IE cleaning disabled. Still slow compared to before.

  10. Thanks for the info and that I'm not the only one experiencing this.  I did update to the official release. I only obtain my updates directly from CCleaner's website.

I still use W7 on my old PC, so I know what you mean. I thought CCleaner would avoid cleaning IE temp files on W11 and these IE files (on my W7 system) would always be the bottleneck for CCleaner.

  11. I wonder if this is a problem with CCleaner or if I need to adjust some settings. I have a laptop with an NVMe SSD drive that used to run CCleaner very fast. But lately, it takes much longer to clean. It still cleans Internet Explorer even though I use Windows 11 (no IE)!

All the items that CCleaner cleans are on my C drive, where I install my programs. My D drive is for data files and media.

    I'm not sure about that.

Wisewiz is reporting slow launching to the User Interface, starting with v6.10 and a new licence key.

You are reporting slow cleaning starting with 6.09 - which is a different thing.

Firstly are you using Winapp2 or some other add-on?
If you don't trim them down after installing them then they can realy slow cleaning.

I'd also suggest that you look in Task Manager and see what is running when 'idle'.
Open task Manager and let the computer sit there, after 5 or 10 minutes you'll probably see some background tasks start up.
The fact that your cooling fans start up when 'idle'  suggests that something is runnning in the background to make you chips run hotter.

Following Windows Updates there is always quite a lot going on in the background, sometimes for hours afterwards. (or even days - if you don't allow the computer some idle time after a Windows Update then it has to do update tasks a little bit at a time when it can).
You don't normally see all that background activity unless you are looking in Task maager, but it's using your CPU and could be slowing things down.
eg. Last week's Windows Updates download a new iteration of the 'Malicious Software Removal Tool' which then loaded to scan your machine in the background.
MSRT always slows down things a bit when it runs in the background.

Indeed. Loading and cleaning are not the same. I didn't want to start a new thread for the slow cleaning. If you think I should, let me know.

I have looked at the task manager including Process Hacker. There's nothing odd and cpu load is nominal which is frustrating that the fans are running. As I type this, all is good (for now). Like you said, Windows Updates can take hours or days to do it's "thing" after an update. This is similar after an iPhone update too. But I've disabled (delayed) Windows Updates for now. I'll keep monitoring it.

I seen your post earlier about Winapp2, I'm not familiar with it so I'm not intentionally using it.

I think I'll uninstall Ccleaner and reinstall it just to see if the cleaning improves. But it always pauses for a long time when it's performing Edge cleaning. Heck, it's even cleaning Internet Explorer files!

And those WIndows Widgets are pia too which like to start up despite being disabled in the Settings. Lenovo files seem to rely on Edge Runtime Environment too.

I've attached a couple of screenshots taken less than a minute apart from the previous cleaning.

We have seen long CCleaner loading times in the past, as long as 8 or 15 seconds.
I've suffered from 8 second loading lag myself in the past, but like I say I'm not seeing any lag with 6.10 and presumably Hazelnut isn't either or would have mentioned it. (and nobody else has reported any lags - not yet anyway).

When I said go offline I just meant disconnect from the internet to see if it was pausing/lagging because CCleaner was trying to make a connection to a server that it couldn't make.
If you are not connected to the net then it (usually) recognises that and so doesn't try to connect to anything.

Mine is taking slightly longer to open if this laptop is on the wifi than if it's in Flight mode, but it's less than a second in both cases.

I'm trying to think what else could be causing it for you.
I believe you have already turned off Smart Cleaning and Automatic Updating, so we can rule those out.
Are you using the Perfomance Optimiser?
    Are you using Winapp2?

Count me as the "second" person. I have all this disabled and running W64 and connected via RJ45.

  14. I was going to create a separate topic on this but the OP beat me to it.

    {Topics split, this is not quite the same issue - Nukecad}

I too have notice a BIG lag starting with version v6.09.10300. This lag is with cleaning, not loading although it's a bit longer now (about 2 seconds).

I have an NVMe drive and I have over 87% free. CCleaner was always lightening fast on my current system until recently.

I have two different Chromium browsers (Edge and Chrome) installed and I know in the past Microsoft browsers and their "junk" were bottlenecks with CCleaner. But that was on a Windows7 system running HDDs not SSD/NVMe drives.

As another guess, there have been some "major" updates with W11 recently and Chrome. I noticed a slow down in general in loading applications and more. In fact, my laptop fans love to engage these days when idle and that in itself is driving me bonkers. I haven't been able figure out what's doing this and Defender is always running these days it seems.
