  1. I know my machine has a lot of "c" on it. But I am nervous about checking the application boxes because I can't tell what is removed and am concerned it might be something that adversely impacts the operation of the application. For example, what is removed for Adium, for Quicksilver or for Mail? As an illustration, I would not normally remove browser cache, history, or cookies unless I had a specific reason; not to just "clean up." It would help to know specifically what the application clean up functions do. In particular I would be looking for removal of orphaned files, that are left over from an application that has been uninstalled. But it appears that CC for Mac has not yet caught up with the CC for Windows capabilities.
  2. Davey, Thanks for your quick response! In fact, I have found a work around. When I said "I tried everything", I meant a lot. Just not enough. First I tried various combinations of using CCleaner, including check User Assist History, running, unchecking and running, etc. Next I checked to make sure the setting of the number to retain had not been set to zero. It had not. I also found some post at http://www.technologyquestions.com/technol...d-programs.html about certain registry keys to disable. Those keys were not present, so no help there. The problem definitely was surviving rebooting. That is, the list did not repopulate after a reboot. I decided to change the number of programs to remember. After doing that, the list did start to repopulate. So for me that is the workaround.
  3. After using CCleaner, the recently used section of the start menu is clear, but will not fill up again. I found a post here describing this situation, but it says "be sure to turn this function off or the list will never fill up again." I am trying to "turn it off" but nothing seems to work. I want this list to populate with recently used programs. Does this mean, load CCleaner, turn off the check box, and just close CCleaner? Or uncheck it and run it? No matter what I do, the recently used section of the Start Menu remains clear.
