  1. Just saw a Post at WildersSecurity that perfectly fits here: Click
  2. I definitely support the idea of adding Boot-Time Defragmentation to Defraggler! If Defragmentation can add to System Performance, it can -Only/Mostly/Better- do it Before Windows are launched (i.e. during Boot-Time). Most Defragmentation Applications work when Windows Files are Open, and this makes me wonder if such a Defragmentation can -Actually/Really- add to System Performance (???)
  3. Even if that "Only" happens (i.e. Boot/StartUp-Time Improvement), users can gain something from Registry Defragmentation. -BUT- This is Not the Entire Issue: A Fragmented Registry (i.e. a Registry Full of Gaps) can Definitely Reduce System Performance!
  4. "Unlike Registry Cleaners, defragmenting the Registry can improve performance. Paging and Registry file fragmentation can be one of the leading causes of performance degradation related to file fragmentation in a system." [Mark Russinovich, Ph.D.- SysInternals] Source
  5. Mr. Alan_B, You are -ALWAYS- Negative to New Ideas! You acted with exactly the same way when users proposed a Context/Shell Option for a File Shredder/Eraser! A Registry Defragmentation Tool can be OPTIONAL (like the Wipe Free Space). If you don't want it, you canNot select the relevant box with a Check-Mark. There are users who are Not satisfied with NTREGOPT. In my system, NTREGOPT has been very problematic! Besises, I'd like a -FREE- Single Tool to do ALL these: a) Clean my Junk Files. Clean my Registry. c) Defrag my Registry. d) Erase Files/Folders & Wipe Free Space. e) Defrag my Hard Disks. It would be even better this Tool to give users the Option to Activate the Features they want/need. Frankly, I don't understand the tendency/attitude of some members: Whenever someone makes a Suggestion, they attack it as if they do NOT want CCleaner to be FURTHER Developed!!!
  6. Exactly, this is what I've been thinking for months... If you agree to include an Optional Right-Click Eraser, please, make sure that it can erase Shortcuts!!! That's important! Most Secure Delete programs canNOT Erase Shortcuts!!! -The Eraser Tools of -BOTH- ACE and TuneUp Utilities canNot erase Shortcuts! -R-Wipe&Clean can erase Shortcuts!
  7. A Right-Click option to Erase Files/Folders could be -Optional- (like the One of Wipe Free Space) so that users can/canNot Activate it. Therefore, there is No Need to worry!
  8. No. We are referring to CCleaner.
  9. "Unlike Registry Cleaners, defragmenting the registry can improve performance. Paging and Registry file fragmentation can be one of the leading causes of performance degradation related to file fragmentation in a system." [Dr. Mark Russinovich /Windows Sysinternals] http://home.comcast.net/~SupportCD/XPMyths.html Since CCleaner includes a -Registry Cleaner-, CCleaner needs a -Registry Defragmentation- Tool, too.
  10. Following your 'Spirit', lets "improve" CCleaner even further by Removing its -Registry Cleaner -Wipe Free Space -System Restore just because some users misused these features. Now, there are some users who misused the 'Startup' and 'Uninstall' Tools, too. -Why don't we Remove these Tools in addition? Let's Strip CCleaner Down even further (instead of adding/improving features). Nice way of "Thinking"... What's next? -Degrading CCleaner to an ATF Cleaner-like Tool?
  11. We all want CCleaner to have the most useful Tools. -Wipe Free Space was a nice addition. Let's hope that other useful Tools will follow...
  12. I guess that we all agree that CCleaner needs a Shredder which can destroy items through Right-Click (i.e. Shell Integration). Let's see -IF- and -WHEN- Developers will hear us...
  13. Registry Defragmentation or Registry Compact or Registry Compression all refer to Reducing the Registry Size without Removing Data; just empty space. As a result less RAM and less Hard Disk space is required to store the Registry of the system. Registry Cleaning may help or not a System. BUT Registry Defragmentation or Registry Compact or Registry Compression will Definitely speed up Performance. Every Reliable Registry Cleaner has a Tool for Registry Defragmentation or Registry Compact or Registry Compression. -Why CCleaner shouldn't have it?
  14. -Don't you believe that Registry Defragmentation is important? Many experts argue that is more important than Registry Cleaning! -Can a Tool for Registry Defragmentation be added to CCleaner? -Is it possible?
  15. It would be easier/faster to add a Shredder - Shell Integration instead of having to: a. Send items to the Recycle Bin and then, b. Wipe the Recycle Bin contents It wouldn't hurt adding a Shredder through Right-click?
  16. Wow!!! Great Post! THANK You!!! I wish I could see a Percentage Progress Bar to know How Much it remains, What has already Erased etc.
  17. Since CCleaner has a Registry Cleaner, it would be nice to have a Tool for Registry Deftagmentation. In that case, CCleaner would offer a -Complete- Registry Maintenance. The most effective Registry Cleaners have a Tool for Registry Deftagmentation. Wouldn't it be nice if CCleaner had one, too?
  18. The last version of CCleaner can Wipe Free Disk space. -What about adding a Shredder that will allow users to Securely Delete (i.e. Erase) Files/Folders and the Recycle Bin via Right-click (i.e. Shell Integration)? The Simple Pass-1, DoD-3, DoD-7, and Gutmann methods, like in the Wipe Free Disk space, can be used.
  19. I hope so... But in every -New- version, I am left with the hope... I am tired of -Manually- adding these useful features which are already developed BUT somehow/why?, they still remain out of the default installation. By adding these, CCleaner will be even stronger; especially against competition!
  20. In the next version of CCleaner, I'd like to see: 1) More Third-party Application Cleaning as achieved by the winapp2.ini file. If developers decide that (1) is not important, then 2) An 'Icon Cache' option under the 'Windows Explorer' ('Windows' Tab) -as achieved by the winsys2.ini file- would be a nice option. Finally, 3) Why has Not the "Clean/Auto Shutdown" feature -Already- been a option? *Since 1), 2) and 3) have already been there, why do we have to add them manually? *Isn't it the right time for all these useful features to become part of the next CCleaner version? Thanks!
  21. I am glad that I have the latest features. 1) When/If a New feature (i.e. add-on file) comes up, is there a special Thread I must search for? In other words, in the "CCleaner Discussion", where do I look for new CCleaner features? I found winapp2.ini and winsys2.ini accidentaly... I am new to the forum and a little bit lost... 2) In the next version of CCleaner, will you include 'Icon Cache' option under the 'Windows Explorer' ('Windows' Tab)? If you do it, we will no more need winsys2.ini... Thank you in advance!
  22. Up to now, I have already downloaded and used the files: 1) winapp2.ini (for Third-party Application Cleaning) 2) winsys2.ini (for adding the 'Icon Cache' option Under the 'Windows Explorer' ('Windows' Tab). Both (1) and (2) work Without Any Problems! -Is there anything else I can download in order to Enhance/Strengthen CCleaner? Thank you advance! Best regards, 212eta
  23. It will be nice to see the 'Winapp2.ini' becoming part of the setup file. I hope that Developers will pay attention to the need for more Third-party-Application Cleaning.
  24. -Why isn't the "Winapp2.ini" file (i.e. cleaning Additional programs) included, by Default, to CCleaner? -Why do we have to add it manually? -Since the List with the third-party programs of the "Winapp2.ini" file (i.e. cleaning Additional programs) works fine, why shouldn't it become part of the CCleaner installation (setup) file? O.K. the List is modified. So what's the problem? -When checking for an Update (i.e. new version), CCleaner can Check Automatically or Manually for an Update of the "Winapp2.ini" file.
