Leon, I have a hunch that a problem that I have is very similar to yours and/or somehow related. The people posting in this forum were unable to help me as well, although I did not take this as lack of interest. I just assumed they provided all the help they could, which unfortunately did not work.
My problem is that when I use CCleaner, my Windows 8.1 Outlook account password has to be reentered. Not right away, but once I shut down or sleep (the PC that is) after I have used CCleaner to clean. This also has the effect, of course, of disconnecting my OneDrive synching. I have narrowed this down to what is cleaned under Windows Explorer or System. I have not narrowed it further as of yet. None of the checked boxes seem to be what is causing the deletion of my Microsoft account password during cleaning, so I now have to wonder...is there anything cleaned under either of those two categories that is not shown as a checkbox entity? Would I find that in the Winapp file (I use whatever comes standard with CCleaner)?
I suspect that solving my problem may solve yours.

Just to follow up here....trying all the suggestions made did NOT fix this problem. Using CCleaner in any way so far deletes the Windows account log in. I do not meant the system password either. I mean the Live log-in needed to run the account if you use an Outlook/OneDrive connected Windows account rather than just having your Windows account as a local account. Any fix to this yet?

Sorry, no pics. Your link to instructions does not seem to realize that the only options in the full reply are to provide a link to hosted pics, or to select My Media, which then does not recognize anything on my PC.

Please provide screenshots of both the system and app tabs of ccleaner so we know what you have checked off. I cannot recreate this thus far (I also use a linked ms account for my windows 8)
Nergal, I will get the screenshots, but I have nowhere to host them. If I upload them here, will you see them? I am not a multimedia literate person at all. I never share photos, music, etc.
Also, do you have Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. There are some fundamental differences about how files are linked within Windows.

OK, unchecking the "network passwords" option for the cleaning cycle did not preserve the MS account credentials. Surely someone here knows what to exclude to prevent this issue? This has not been a problem with all versions of CCleaner BTW.

I have double-checked the login.live.com cookie listing. That is and always has been sitting in cookies to keep. I will re-check the network passwords setting. However, if this is the problem, this should be changed in CCleaner. I do not want to keep network passwords, and the Windows account login should not be included in that cleaning setting IMHO.

Hello! Every time I use CCleaner (not the registry cleaner), it erases my Microsoft account log in. I then get the message in Action Center to log back into my MS account for the machine's backup and Store functions. How can I make CCleaner avoid erasing this info? When I just run "Analyze" and click on each item, nothing jumps out at me as the stored credential. I do not delete Memory Dumps, ChkDsk files or Windows Log Files, nor do I run the registry cleaner.

Andavari, perhaps CCleaner actually goes by the last date accessed or date saved instead of date created or modified?

When I had Kaspersky 2010 9.0.0.736 loaded, I had the same problem as you. After I got fed up with Kaspersky and changed to Norton on one machine and Zone Alarm on the other, my Vista x64 set-ups are just as speedy as ever with CCleaner. What I did not think of (because Kaspersky was slowing everything down, so I didn't care about just the CCleaner issue), is looking under "Applications" in CCleaner and if Kaspersky is in there, try unchecking it.

Anyone know how I would go about adding an entry to the WINAPP2.INI file to clear the Windows print spooler? For those times when the print cue gets fubarred, this might be handy.

Hi! Just a quick note. If you use Firefox, you will get that warning message if the download manager is open or active as well. I currently run the latest versions of both Firefox and CCleaner on Vista Ultimate, and I have had no problems. When I get that message, I know to go and close either the Firefox browser or the download manager. Also, if your Java app is still running for some reason, this may cause this message as well.

I actually tried each method out last night before I saw your email...LOL!!!
I particularly like the ability to defrag the empty space. I also LOVE being able to see the individual files that are still fragmented. There is a use of some kind somewhere in there for combatting trojans. Which I have been doing for three weeks now. Defraggler allows me to see files that are obviously hidden in some extra special way besides the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" and "Show All Files and Folders" options. While in Defraggler, I could see some files in my C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local\Temp that were simply not there when I actually navigated to the folder itself. I know now that because Vista's file structure relies on "junctions" which are like shortcuts without the arrows to other file folders, that I really have no idea what I am looking at half the time.

Anyway, I kept wanting to click on the files that I saw that were suspicious, and delete them from within Defraggler!

Thanks for the great suggestion, and certainly the individual file defragger is why I want to keep Defraggler, but that is not the issue. Auslogics spanks Defraggler at the total defrag function. I am not interested in deviating from Piriform however, so I am just curious as to why this is so slow.
I have noticed something else very interesting as well. With the latest version of CCleaner, the process has slowed down significantly. CCleaner's speed has always been fabulous, but the latest edition fills up the scanning bar repeatedly, as if it is rescanning the same data several times. This never used to happen before. Again, this is occurring on two different, un-connected systems, neither of which had exhibited this behavior with CCleaner prior to me installing updated versions this week.
Is there something common to both the Defraggler v1.02.085 Final and CCleaner version 2.11.636 that just recently began to be used in both? From the release dates in the properties on both install files, it looks like Defraggler was packaged up on August 18th and CCleaner on August 22nd. That is close enough in date to make me wonder about the commonality of something in both their codes that may be A) causing Defraggler's slowness all along and
causing CCleaner's NEW slower functioning.Just asking. Again, please don't kill the messenger/inquirer.

Hello! I don't want to start a war in here, but I have a question. I have just started using Defraggler after being a CCleaner user/donater for some time now. I love CCleaner, and I expected to love Defraggler, but it is SLOW! I have a brand new hard drive that I have used it on, as well as a HD that has been in service for about a year. Using Defraggler on either was so painful that I stopped the process and used Auslogics defragger instead. Now, I do not want to use their product. I want to use Piriform's. I really like your products. But why is Defraggler so slow? I have searched this forum, and I see that others have experienced this, but I have not seen any truly constructive responses on why this is the way it is.
I have WinXP Pro x86 on one disk and Vista Business x64 on the other. Each disk is part of a separate system. One disk was fairly fragmented (the XP) and one is a three day old install. I tested the thoroughness of the Auslogics defragger just to see if it was faster due to a lack of actual proper defragging. I did this by running Auslogics first and then running Defraggler right behind it. Defraggler showed that Auslogics had done it job completely, so I am stumped as to why Defraggler cannot do it just as speedily?
Any ideas? I want to keep using Defraggler, but I am not a patient gal!

Hey SB! Sorry to hear about your week. My last three weeks have been very similar to yours. During my struggles, I came across a company and their software that may stand you in good stead right about now. They have two programs that might help you. One is free, and one is free to try. Go to http://www.dtidata.com/ and check out their data recovery software programs (which one depends on your OS) and also take a look at their NTFS Partition Repair Tool. I have read hat your issue is, but take a look at their write-up on their software before you decide it won't help you just based on the name.
I am not affiliated with them at all by the way. I am just a fellow floundering pc hobbyist. I called the company when I had a question and they were very nice and helpful, so I was impressed.

Great point! dfulton, are you using the version of Internet Explorer that you run from the pretty tiled Start area, or the one from your desktop?
