Thank you so much everyone for your input, I really appreciate it as does my Sister-in-law.

My Sister-in-law will be buying a new laptop but she is not sure whether she should get Windows 8 or stick with Windows 7. My expert friends on Piriform, what is your opinion?

Thanks for the tip Andavari

Still using Firefox and update when updates are ready. I admit updates are frequent but I have never had any problems.

That day must have been filled with amazing actions by many ordinary people who will probably forever remain anonymous.
I agree 100% Dennis.

Hello from me too Qwertius. A little late but better late then never. Enjoy the forum.

TY hazel for your reply. I had tried everything (except Unlocker) before posting. I downloaded Unlocker as per your recommnedation and that didn't work either. However, I solved the puzzle. I had previously put the contents of the folder into a locked folder but I didn't think this would cause the original folder to be impossible to delete. So to solve my problem I unlocked the previous contents of the folder and then I was able to delete the original folder.
Thanks for your time hazel. Have a great day!

I created a folder on my desktop yesterday and now I wish to delete it. A notice popped-up, that has never happened in the past, stating that that I need permission from me. In other words, it is my computer and I am signed in as me and this notice is telling me that I need permission from that person, which is me!
Any ideas how to solve this mystery?

Hi Derek. Welcome! It's always great to see new members on here. In my opinion, this forum is the BEST forum in cyberspace - so much so that I made it my home page several years ago.

I'd like a byte of that!!
very good hazel!

Fun fact: If you put your ear up against a stranger's leg, you can hear them say "what the heck are you doing!?"
LOL

It's been many many years since I had a blue screen (back in the days when I was running Windows ME) and equally as long since I had to boot via the F8 process. In other words, I forgot if you can access a previous restore point. If you can, then restoring your PC to a previous good restore point may do the trick for you.
Hope this works FPM. Good luck!
edit: LOL Just noticed Hazel advised the same thing. Good thinking Hazel

Dennis, what a nice picture. Very peaceful. I grabbed a copy of it for my desktop slideshow.

Dennis, those graphics are hysterical. Love #2 - running away.

The thing about a Moderator is that you can trust them to actually test out and validate any suggestion they make

Great list Fluffy, useless but very interesting - exactly what I meant this tread to be!

That could almost describe some users of it, height and weight.

The first microwave oven in the world was built in 1947. It was nearly 6 feet tall, weighed 750 lbs. and cost almost $5,000. It was water-cooled and therefore required built-in pluming.
Anyone else with useless info?
