  1. I have a 1999 IBM ThinkPad W98SE 2002 IBM ThinkPad XP Pro Current 2008 Lenovo ThinkPad Vista Just for fun I got my old startup disc and "nuked" the 1999 IBM HD clean plus upped the RAM. Amazing how it was as good or better than new! That plus a few extra cheapies like CCleaner it is useable....slow but useable in a pinch.
  2. Happy Holidays everyone and have a Great New Year. ....and thanks for the nice card Lulu.
  3. -If a man is in a forest talking to himself with no women around, is he still wrong? -To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research. -Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart. -Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it. - Mark Twain
  4. Hey 5 years, 18 pages, 354 Replies and 61,482 Views on this thread is also quite amazing, I don't think I can remember anything like it on any board. It's been fun, if you want to kill some time go back to page 1 and check it out....and see how we've all "gracefully" aged.
  5. Hey Happy Birthday there Mr. Mudd, I'm still trying to catch you but you have a little lead on me. I wonder what 90 or 100 would be like? Nevermind, I'm enjoying today. ALSO you should see my Mother-in-law, going on 87 and drives, shops, cooks (GREAT cook), does her own banking....in fact she does her own everything. Age truly is just a number.
  6. .....and the Viper has no traction or stability control just 10 cylinders of raw HP. I always wanted one of those, and the Cobra isn't bad either. ----------------------------------- AND the celebrity weekly lap car is a $17,000 Suzuki. Astronaut Buzz Aldren is the 1st driver.
  7. I'm watching the 2010 season opener of Top Gear in America, I though eh, why not give it a try. Opening test a Viper SRT, top speed 203 mph vs an attack Cobra helicopter gunship, top speed 175 mph in a 10 mile race loop from an airfield across a rural Georgia town and back. Oh yeah the Cobra had radar missle lock, the Viper a missle radar detector and three chances to get back to the starting point. Well the Cobra got kill 1 before they got off the air strip. Then, well you've got to see it.......
  8. Happy 1 week late Birthday there LuLu. I hope you did something fun or interesting. (Get any good stuff? Leftover Halloween candy? ) ....and you're miles and miles from any milestones!!
  9. Oh what a cutie that's for sure. And about Hemmingway and his cats I've been all over FLA but never made it to "The Keys". Better put it on my bucket list.
  10. I'd like to see that! AND it must have been someone's birthday or will be pretty soon.
  11. Being a motorhead I'm just ticked it took me so long to get TopGear! I got hooked, would watch the TG marathons, good stuff. edit add- they also ran a piece just recently on TopGear on CBS 60 Minutes.
  12. *AND among their other fantastic parting gifts* .....The 33 Chilean miners, who were stuck in a mine for over 2 months, but have now all been brought up out of the damaged mine, have apparently been offered free iPods from the one and only Steve Jobs. Jobs isn?t the only one who has decided to reward the 33 men who had to endure a hellish situation for 68 days 625m under the surface of the earth. A Greek mining company have offered the miners a 1 week trip to Greece as well as a trip to South Korea by the Chilean Football Association. There is no word on what type of iPod the miners will be getting, but it is expected that it will be the 64GB iPod Touch...... HEY, I'd take it.
  13. Back to earth, well in another way. Just saw on CNN what these miners might get: $10,000 from a tycoon $400,000 for exclusive interviews And who knows what else, let's just hope they can deal with it all....that can be tricky. Even family and other mental issues can be hard to deal with. So far this has been handled very well for such an event helped even by internet communications throughout this whole long ordeal.
  14. All out, just 3 rescue workers to go, 10:29 ESDT, almost there. What an amazing outstanding effort by everyone involved, sure is nice when people all over the world pull together in a moment like this. Now if we all can just pull together on other matters all over this globe for the good of all mankind. Just wonderful to watch.
  15. I'm so glad that some people, especially youngsters are interested in chess. My dad tought me the game when I was about 5 or 6, I'm glad he did. I've always loved it, I wish more kids would put down the "Grand Theft Auto" type programs and try it. I have the Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition on my computer and use it occasionally. And it is played all over the world and has been played a long time! .....The history of chess spans some 1500 years. The earliest predecessors of the game originated in India, prior to the 6th century AD. From India, the game spread to Persia. When the Arabs conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently spread to Southern Europe. In Europe, the game evolved into its current form in the 15th century. In the second half of the 19th century, modern tournament play began, and the first world chess championship was held in 1886. The 20th century saw great leaps forward in chess theory and the establishment of the World Chess Federation (FIDE). Developments in the 21st century include the employment of computers for analysis, team consultations, and online gaming......
  16. OMG, I can't believe it, despite all the crazy stuff I've done for years I've actually made it this far. I turned the BIG 6-0 today! Strange, I don't think 6-0, act 6-0 but the calendar says it's true. .....and I'm not even thinking about any other milestones for a long while.
  17. Well look at it this way, 700 isn't so bad, coulda' been: 821 euros 1,107 dollars 93,215 yen or 5,315,184 kwachas Hey,figures never lie.
  18. But that might get rid of those little pests for good! (and your furniture)
  19. A few thoughts about a fool and his money....or just having some fun, depending on your viewpoint (or luck). A weekend in Vegas without gambling and drinking is just like being a born-again Christian. I like to play blackjack. I'm not addicted to gambling. I'm addicted to sitting in a semi-circle. Italians come to ruin most generally in three ways, women, gambling, and farming. My family chose the slowest one. - Pope John XXIII Part of it went on gambling, and part of it went on women. The rest I spent foolishly. - George Raft There is no gambling like politics. - Benjamin Disraeli
  20. Was that in a casino? You'd love Vegas.
  21. Yes she did. We got her when I was ~16, years later at the vet he called us back to see the xrays, you could see little dots all over that tiny film, amazing. She was a great cat and a good "mouse hunter"! Thankfully she took all of her "trophies" outside. I had 4 younger brothers, she'd follow them to the school bus stop and meet them at the bus when they got home. What a cat.
  22. I've never had the problem, I've heard of different home made vinegar or cider vinegar traps using plastic bottles. Google around and see what you can find, good luck.
  23. Wow, sounds like you had a really nice vacation...mjp
  24. Geezzz you've got me thinking about that old cat, we later just called her "TC". A really sweet cat but never meowed for many years, took her in once to the vet years later he was SHOCKED, x-rays showed she'd been shot with a shotgun with small shot (like bird shot), ~10+ hits that missed every vital organ, a miracle. We had her from 1966-1984 (+/-). Amazing too later in life she got a soft meow back. Things you remember about pets like total and unconditional love. (too rare in some humans)
  25. I've used both, prefer Yahoo, have several accounts for mail, sports, junk.
