  1. For years I used CCleaner with the /AUTO command line option. Now on a different computer the tray icon can be seen only for a short moment and then closes. When I click on the icon before it vanishes the window is empty.

    In normal mode CCleaner runs flawlessly. Is this a regression? The issue was there years ago already. Or can I do something to solve the issue?

    CCleaner 6.20

    Windows 10 Professional 64 bit

  2. Hi,

    I have checked

    • Stop VSS
    • Custom settings
    •   Exclude restore points
    •   Exclude hibernation file

    Nevertheless

    • VSS service is still active and System Volume Information grows extremely
    • All restore points are vanished after defragging free space

    Additionally several hundred MBs of fragmented files (not in use) need to be defragged manually after Defraggler has finished.

    I use Defraggler 2.21.993 (64bit) on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1

  3. C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 10.5.1.42\

    I think we should not remove installations files for the programs have an option to Change/Repair in the Add/Remove section.

    Thank you for testing.

    But that was the folder I recommended NOT to delete.

    Instead, I recommend THIS folder

    %commonappdata%\Apple\Installer Cache

    Actually it is only necessary to delete the many subfolders "AppleApplicationSupport*"

    So the entry should be

    [Apple Installer Cache**]
    LangSecRef=3023
    DetectFile=%commonappdata%\Apple\Installer Cache
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%commonappdata%\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport*|*.msi|REMOVESELF

    But I did not think of the repair function.

    To keep the repair function it would be necessary to keep the latest folder and msi-file

    But since one does not know the latest folder name one cannot create an exception.

    It would be nice to have such a function in CCleaner, something like |KEEPLATEST or so, also for other installation files that fill up the hard disk and have not been removed by updates, latest log-files and so on.

  4. http://forum.pirifor...ndpost&p=206213

    [Apple Installation Temps*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    DetectFile=%CommonAppData%\Apple Computer
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%AppData%\Apple Computer\Logs|*.*
    FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\Apple Computer\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE
    FileKey3=%CommonAppData%\Apple\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE

    Does only this entry

    FileKey1=%commonappdata%\Apple\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE

    make Apple redownload iTunes installers, too? I don't have iTunes but QuickTime and deleting this folder works fine.

    Because, as I posted already, this folder is for the Apple Updater itself and the Apple Application Support, I recommend only this entry for winapp2.ini.

    This

    FileKey2=%CommonAppData%\Apple Computer\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE

    folder contains the last QuickTime installer, and only the last one, so I guess Apple deletes the old ones when downloading a new one. Therefore this folder doesn't need to be cleaned actually.

  5. The variable %ProgramData% doesn' work on my computer (Windows XP SP3) unless I define this manually as a system variable. I guess that this is not what you want users need to do to make this winapp.ini (embedded) entry work

    [Avast! Antivirus 5]
    ID=2161
    LangSecRef=3024
    Detect=HKCU\Software\ALWIL Software\Avast\5.0
    Default=True
    FileKey1=%ProgramData%\Alwil Software\Avast5\report|avast.xsl;avast.xsl;Resident protection.txt;Simple user interface.txt;Simple user interface*.xml
    FileKey2=%ProgramData%\Alwil Software\Avast5\log|*.*

    See this thread http://forum.pirifor...showtopic=34454

    Additionally, this path

    FileKey1=%ProgramData%\Avast Software\Avast\log|*.*

    in the [Avast! Antivirus 6] entry doesn't exist on my computer, although the respective Detect key is being detected

  6. Apple Installer Cache

    [Apple Installer Cache*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    DetectFile=%commonappdata%\Apple\Installer Cache
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%commonappdata%\Apple\Installer Cache|*.*|RECURSE

    This folder is not for iTunes or QuickTime, it is for the Apple Updater itself and the Apple Application Support.

    It looks like Apple does not delete old versions when installing a new one. This folder has become extremely large by old installer versions on my computer.

  7. It looks like CCleaner is not able to correctly work with this variable on Windows XP.

    There is e.g. this line vor avast 5 in the embedded winapp.ini

    FileKey2=%ProgramData%\Alwil Software\Avast5\log|*.*

    If %ProgramData% ist really equal %ALLUSERSPROFILE% then this path doesn't exist on my machine.

    The path on my machine is %COMMONAPPDATA%\Alwil Software\Avast5\log|*.*

    (%ALLUSERSPROFILE% is not the same path as %COMMONAPPDATA%, if I am correct. %COMMONAPPDATA% is the folder for application data in the %ALLUSERSPROFILE% directory)

    After running CCleaner all files in this folder still exist. Several of these files are blocked by avast and cannot be deleted with the running virus shield anyway.

    Another line for avast 6 is

    FileKey1=%ProgramData%\Avast Software\Avast\log|*.*

    That doesn't exist here either. There's only a path %COMMONAPPDATA%\avast

    Looks like the avast entries don't work at least on my XP machine.

    (Thank God) the %ProgramData% variable is only used in the avast entries of the embedded winapp.ini.

  8. Hi there,

    Please use command line to export embedded INI files.

    ccleaner.exe /export [folder path]

    Thanks

    MrT

    Hi,

    that's a great idea. But in v305 there is no winapp.ini, only winsys.ini and winreg.ini! Please fix, thank you very much.

    Regards

  9. Hi,

    in the advanced settings there is an option to delete files in the Windows temp folder only when they are older than 24 hours. This option is missing for the local data temp folder. Result: The FreeCommander freeware explorer, which writes it's temp data in this folder, needs to be restarted after cleaning with CCleaner.

    Please add this option to the advanced settings.

    Thank you.

    My system: Windows XP SP3

  10. Hi,

    I'd appreciate very much to have the archive with the embedded ini-files in the setup package. It is very uncomfortable to come to this forum after every single update to download the files manually.

    The files could be extracted to a subdirectory of the CCleaner directory.

    Thank you for consideration.

  11. On http://docs.piriform.com/ccleaner/advanced...rs-ini-files-do you say about the winapp1.ini, that any applications you list in it will replace the default applications on the Applications tab of the Cleaner area.

    The truth is, that the winapp1.ini will replace the embedded winapp.ini completely.

    I'd apreciate very much, if the winapp1.ini would really only replace the applications listed in it and leave all other applications in the embedded winapp.ini.
