- Currently the amount of languages supported by OEC has increased to 21. People who want to help to translate the program in more languages are still very welcome.

- Perhaps some other program is very busy at the same time ? If so then try to increase the delay with which the program is run would help to fix this problem. The program uses Task Scheduler to be started. - Post your problem on the Tweaking.com forum website.

- Actually, the update for IE 11 is included in the monthly "Roll up update" for Windows 7 (SP 1). But I always download both the update for IE 11 and the monthly rollup. Just in case I need to re-install Win7. - MS started in 2013 (2014 ??) to release a "Cumulative Security Updates for IE 11" every month. That was long before MS started to issue "Monthly Rollup Updates" (mid 2016 ?).

- No, this IE 11 update (KB 4486474) won't be offered through the Windows Update mechanism. The user has to go out and actively search for this update on the Microsoft Update Catalogus website. See e.g. the 1st post in this thread.

- Ah. MS was a "bit late". Today I did find the "Cumulative Security Update for IE 11". It's KB 4486474 (for Windows 7).

- It seems this month there is no separate Cumulative Security Update for IE 11. I searched the MS Update catalogus website but to no avail.

- Odd, very odd. After re-installing most (not all) programs I removed before, I still can play videos without a problem on e.g. YouTube. - But now I have a different video problem. I have a bunch of videos on my HD but some of these videos won't play with the installed (video) codec(s). I have to install a different codec pack to be able to play those videos, those trouble makers. But then other videos won't play. Then I have to (re-)install the old codec (again). And I think all this switching back and forth, all these codec changes ultimately caused the troubles in the first place (see the 1st post in this thread.) - That brings up another question: Can anyone recommend a codec pack that contains every codec that is able to play every type of video with e.g Real Player or Windows Media Player ? - I know, I know these 2 players are also (fairly) old but Real Player has one VERY nice feature I have become addicted to and I haven't seen that one feature in other media players (yet).

- Run Antibody's Wiztree. It will show the size of the folder "System Volume Information". That's the folder where the System Restore Points (SRPs) are stored. - Even if CCleaner shows no SRPs then that one folder can contain GBs in data.

- Interesting that work-around. - This reminds of something else. In a different thread someone reported that without System Restore active, Defraggler ran (much) faster on his (her ??) Windows 10 system.

- Thanks for all the replies. Especially the answer of Nikki605 gave me a good clue what to look for. With the help of CCleaner I sorted all the software installed on the "date installed" and removed all the software I installed this year (quite a long list). And yes, I was able to play Youtube videos again. - Now I will re-install all the removed software again, one by one. Then I will be able to see what software causes YouTube to "malfunction". I fear some programs I use are - like IE 11 - (a bit) outdated. We'll have to wait and see what I'll come across.

- This could pose a problem for third party software who use the "rendering engine" of Edge and perhaps even Internet Explorer (like e.g. Outlook Classic). We'll have to wait and see what the future will bring.

- I need help for a nagging problem. I am still a happy user of Internet Explorer 11 on my Windows 7 system. Yes, I know it's (a bit) outdated but it still works good enough. There are - at least - 2 good reasons why I prefer IE 11 over e.g. Firefox and Chrome (I use the last 2 as well every now and then). - But since say 2 weeks I am not able anymore to play videos (e.g. on YouTube) with IE 11. The message is "An error occurred. Try later again. ................. ". This error doesn't show up when I use Chrome or Firefox (I don't use them that often for a good reason). - I tried several things. I removed several rollup updates (for IE 11, Windows and .NET). I removed and re-installed Flash, Java, VLC Player and REAL player, etc. etc. I tried all the suggestions that were made on the internet (thanks to GOOGLE) but it was all to no avail. The only thing I can do is changing the ActiveX settings but I don't know what boxes to tick or un-tick (in IE 11 ??). - Does anyone have an explanation why this started to happen right now ? Does anyone have suggestions to solve this problem ? Is it related to e.g HTML-5, Flash, Microsoft Edge/IE 11 or something else ? - Lots of questions but GOOGLE failed to give any good answers. That's why I pose these questions here on this forum.

- We all know that the NSA in the US and other "intelligency agencies" in a lot of other countries are listening to/spying on almost all computer users and their activity on the internet. That makes me feel very uncomfortable (every now and then). However, Roy Zimmerman provides here a little comic relief. He wrote a song called "Hello, NSA". The song is a (kind of) love song for the NSA. LOL.

- Users of Windows 10 build 1809 and who want to use Tweaking's Windows Repair MUST use version v4.4.0 or newer. This Windows 10 Build 1809 contains a bug that - in some particular circumstances - will "break" Windows and prevent Windows 10 from working properly. - Windows Repair v4.4.0 (or newer) makes sure that this bug doesn't become a problem, fixes this problem. - I hope Microsoft will take care of this bug in the next Build. - More information is available at the Tweaking.com website: https://www.tweaking.com/

- Run Antibody's Wiztree. It gives an oversight of what's "hiding" on your HD. (I assume it's a HD ?) - Perhaps the System Restore Points (in the folder c:\system volume information") take up A LOT OF space ?

- Make sure you regularly remove files from "Recent Files" (with e.g. Ccleaner), the file "layout.ini" in the "c:\windows\Prefetch" folder. Then this problem should be less of an issue. - Check the size of the "Standby" part of the memory (Resource Monitor) before and after cleaning these files. It should be smaller. Or use Sysinternals' RAMMAP to check the memory usage. This program tells you what files are read and stored in the Standby part of the memory. - You also use the option "Defrag Freespace" in Defraggler to move selective files to the beginning of the disk.

- No, the OS isn't that "smart". But I think it's baked into the OS that it wants to write the files as fast as possible. And then you end up with this situation.

- What kind of files are those who have been moved to the end of the drive ? Vidoes, pictures you opened/viewed recently ? - I know that Windows keeps track of what files you have opened in the (recent) past. (e.g. "Recent files") These files are then read from the disk into the memory (with a low priority) in case you need them again. Then these files are much more rapidly available, from the memory instead from the (comparatively) slow HD. This mechanism uses a combination of things like "Recent files", "Prefetch" and the "Superfetch" Service. - I could imagine that during the reading of those low priority files (that are placed at the end of the HD) the Operating system wants to write a number of files. Then these files are being placed at the end of the file because then the read/write head of the HD happens to be at the end of the HD. And then the firmware/OS decides to place those files at the end of the HD. Then the firmware/ Operating system doesn't want to wait for the read/write head of the HD to return to the beginning of the HD.

Just be good boy/girl and install all the upcoming Rollup updates. - Upgrading Win7 and Server 2008 to SHA-2 will also reduce the complexity of the update procedure for Microsoft. Why didn't they do it much earlier ?
