OK, I gave up. Looks like CCleaner isn't going to clean Firefox3 URLs so I went back to Firefox2 and all is well. Hope they let us know when a fix is done

use ctrl+shift+del, Where/when? Thanks

Doesn't seem to be a fix. Recently typed URLs won't go away!
