  1. I've been using CCleaner for a couple of years with good results so I thought I'd give Recuva a try. Shocked, stunned, amazed, you name it. It found almost 9000 files to either recover or delete, and when I went through them I was horrified as what I saw. You see, there is only one computer in the house and three people use it, one being my son of 24 so naturally he is old enough to go onto some of the websites which you wouldn't show your Granny. So I thought great!! we have a program here that can get rid of this garbage, WRONG!! I did a scan, then another, and another, and another, I think its now about 8 I've done all with varying decrees of overwriting, the last scan to almost an hour. Every scan has almost the identical amount of files to view and a large percentage are still excellent. So I'm asking myself whats going on? Is this some elaborate yet very simple form of spyware where you do the scan, cant delete anything, then send your files to a total stranger so he can have a laugh and see where you've been. I hope not. Somebody's having a laugh surely. Maybe the answer is simple, maybe I've installed it wrong (I've done it 4 times), maybe I'm doing it wrong (I've tried every way there it). To me, whether it is recoverable, poor, overwritten or not is irrelevent, I can still see the text, so I know whats on the system and if a fool like me can see it so can anyone else. I haven't come across another program that finds these files yet because frankly I didn't know they existed, I thought by using CCleaner and a couple of others everything would be deleted from my system, but now Recuva has found this rubbish and I cant get rid of it. So now I'm going to spend the next hour trying to find a program that does what it says on the tin. Any suggestions? John H
