  1. isn't that link for the Windows version?
  2. Is there any way to save the cookies I want to keep, like cleaner for Windows?
  3. Cookies to Keep = 42 (listed); 172 total in folders accuweather.com amazon.com aol.com att.my.yahoo.com bestbuy.com chase.com cnet.com craigslist.org doityourself.com download.cnet.com dropbox.com duke~energy.com ebay.com filehippo.com findlaw.com forum.avast.com forum.mobilism.org forum.notebookreview.com forum.piriform.com forum.sysinternals. com forun‘smydigitallifeJnfo fuel-saver.org google.com homedegot.com keznews. com lowes.com mail.twc.com mediafire.com myfrischs.com notebookreview.com paypal.com pcworld.com sevenforums.com statefarm.com tigerdirect.com tracfonewireless.com vistax64.com weather.aol.com wlky.com www.pctechbytes.net www.prescriptionsolutions.com yahoo.com
  4. I've opened several of the cookies and the issue appears to be that some of the saved cookies listed in CC have multiple cookies in the cookie folders. Could this be normal? Could it be that older cookies have a newer version? My memory is not clear on this because it has been a long time but when I reinstalled one of my operating systems I saved the cookies and then copied them back. I believe I may have had problems with (some or all) of cookies after doing this (might have been because of the .DAT file) and they may have been created again? This could have been the reinstallation of Win 7 but I’m not sure? Most all of the cookies have coded names such as "1WYRAWKU.txt". Would a list of these be of any help? If so I will create a list. I had to open them to find the actual "owner name".
  5. Thanks for responding. Unticked Protected Mode and then ran CC, no change in Cookie issue.
  6. I did as you suggested and ran the Ccleaner in Safe mode, no difference! I don't know, could you explain where I would find Protected Mode?
  7. Thanks for the replies. I don't have anything open when cleaning. Any other suggestions?
  8. Win 7 x64 I have the ccleaner set to clean cookies but save 45 of them. After running the ccleaner I have 166 cookies remaining in C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies and 7 remaining in C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low. 166 + 7 = 173 - 45 = 128 extra remaining after running the ccleaner. Why is this?
  9. Win 7 Home premium IE 11 IE tool bar, Safety tab or Tools tab, if I "Delete Browsing history" will this also delete the cookies saved in CCleaner? Also if I delete "Browsing history" in Internet Options, will this delete the cookies saved in CCleaner? glatzfront
  10. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Where does Ccleaner get the information for which programs to included on the applications tab? Thanks
  11. That is what I have after running the CCleaner
  12. My experiance is that CCleaner sometimes wont delete files in a folder and I think that it was because they were corrupt or infected. After manually deleting them there were no more problems.
  13. What do you mean by isn't back to normal?
  14. For piece of mind. Erunt (registry backup) is free. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/erunt.html DriveimageXML is free. http://www.runtime.org/dixml.htm
  15. Found this on another board and the only thing that I would add is that if you get back into Windows and things aren't right do a system restore. Hope this works and would appreaciate knowing either way. Also, if you don't have an adm password set just press enter. I also found another fix but it is more complicated. "Windows\System32\config\system" file missing or corrupt Sol: Boot using Windows Setup CD and enter into "Recovery Console" by pressing "R". Now Log into windows installation and enter admin password. Now give following commands at prompt: copy %windir%\Repair\system %windir%\System32\Config If it doesnt work, then again boot into "Recovery Console" and give following commands: fixmbr bootcfg /scan bootcfg /rebuild fixboot
  16. I should revise my statement "For what ever reason the entry and files were still present after rebooting." to For what ever reason the entry was still present after rebooting and maybe the files. Can you visually verify that these files are present?
  17. The poster's first HJT isn't dated so we don't know when it was but there must have been a reboot because he didn't get help that soon. This suggests to me that the McAfee entry wasn't clearing for some reason and it could be that it wasn't shreading those files and was caught in a loop????? I haven't used this so I don't know if that is even possible (loop) sounds good though . For what ever reason the entry and files were still present after rebooting.
  18. Is it this HJT entry you are referring to? I want to see if this line clears: O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [DelayShred] "c:\program files\mcafee\mshr\ShrCL.EXE" /P7 /q C:\DOCUME~1\Mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\TEMPOR~1\Content.SH ! C:\DOCUME~1\Mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\TEMPOR~1.SH! C:\DOCUME~1\Mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\History\History.SH! C:\DOCUME~1\Mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\History.SH! C:\DOCUME~1\Mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\Cookies.SH!
  19. Not knowing what they are suggests malware. I don't know if automatic IE deletion would delete these suspect files either, the reason I suggested it is for security. Temp int files are a gateway into the computer, with this setting they would be deleted automatically each time the browser is closed. I don't even want to imagine why you would need to overwrite temp int files but most would be overrwitten by other data soon after deletion. If concerned about data that can be recovered, a tool that overwrites deleted files might be a possibility because this would include all deleted files that haven't been overwritten. If that much security is needed you would also need to clean the MFT and other file tables. Just my thoughts anyway.
  20. This setting will help a lot towards preventing malware from entering your computer. Temporary Internet files set to delete when browser closes Internet options- advanced tab- scroll towards bottom and select to delete temp int files when browser closes.
  21. Update your protections and scan in safe mode
