  1. Are you using any extension such as Session Buddy?
  2. Just wanted to add a link to MTA's post https://miekiemoes.blogspot.co.uk/2008/02/registry-cleaners-and-system-tweaking_13.html I am an aware 9-year-old thread but in case of future searches while it is at the top of the page.
  3. Texts files IE cookies are simply that. A textfile. Cookies aren't malware and they do not comprise "infections". They do not compromise your security. MBAM does not target non-malware tracking cookies.
  4. There is no overload 7 using the WMI namespace.
  5. You occasional come across people like me? Has my comment made you think little of me? malware evolves yes, what do you think AV software databases are made up from. Contradicting.... I do not suggested to the normal user not to run an AV. You mentioned MBAM. I work with them and pacs portal who MBAM have brought from us http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php which was created by my frind paul collins who is a family friend that got me into malware. I know what i am doing.
  6. How would running Two instances be dangerous? If a reg key is missing after its been displayed ccleaner would swollow it and move on. Its no different to ruuning it alone. its called a race condition in programming.
  7. but it's irrelevant to the subject I think its reasonable to query if its a legit copy of windows.
  8. AVG has long been dropped as a suggested av from security websites.
  9. ccleaner comes with a w7 iso? M$ would not pack it with the os. Would this be allowed by piriform?
  10. It's a registry cleaner....What files did this "support guy" mention...You say that you restored the registry to before ccleaner ran then it is not ccleaner. Why do yuo want to delete orphaned keys any way?
  11. There likely wont be one. We recently dealt with the same issue where our app was allocating a sufficiently large array that it can't fulfill with out garbage collection. Which goes with why it runs the second time. It's a programming issue, not a av, internet etc The dump contains the info needed.
  12. More probable is filesystem corruption. Have you run chkdsk?
  13. If there is no file then they are orphaned registry keys that will have no effect on your system. You really need to run frst and post on g2g. It's a shame this forum does not support malware any more since <insert name > retired
  14. I cannot link to the hidden section of geekstogo(i am a senior student there) as you wont have permission. It was suggested with out warrenty the tool of choice over others currently. No tool comes with out dangers that tweaks. I personally have had no issue using it on multipl e Vm's.
  15. My post as i quoted was to mta suggesting to using msconfig. what about using MSCONFIG instead. Chromes settings should only be changed inside the browser OP
  16. There not startup entrys(04), they are CHR extensions. Chrome settings should only be chnaged inside the browser itself, unlike FF etc. If your computer is slow please follow these steps here http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/2852-malware-and-spyware-cleaning-guide/ where you will be asked to post a frst log.
  17. There is no difference in performance. You won't notice a difference in system speed. The only difference you'll notice is when you actually search in your registry. Cleaning often only make it more fragmented. Which may or may not result in slower system performance, although you won't notice much difference. A broken registry is a broken Windows. The again there is no excuse using such products as Norton.
  18. Tools like ccleaner and MSconfig should NOT be used for startup configuation. MSCONFIG is a troubleshooting utility used to diagnose and fix system configuration issues. From Microsoft "It does not manage the programs that run when Windows starts." They should not be used routinely to disable auto-start programs. When uninstalling programs while disabled with msconfig, they may not be uninstalled properly, leaving manual editing of the registry. Both can leave orphaned entries when software is uninstalled. When used to switch back to normal startup mode, these orphan entries can result in boot up errors. Msconfig only allows you to disable entries. Msconfig allows malware related items to hide in your registry which you may not see or affect your computer until switched back to normal startup mode. This could then result in reinfection of the computer. Msconfig does not list all applications loaded in all possible startup locations.
  19. Why would i change my screens res when it should be handled by DPI aware programming. I handle it in my own libs so piriform can also.
  20. I am no DPI programming expert but recuvas welcome dialog does not display well. My screen res on my laptop is 3200x1800 http://gyazo.com/0f265702f862dd3918de91529c865456.png
