  1. WindowsXP SP2, using windowblinds with a mac-like look. Anyway here is my question, for as long as i can remember, when i go to maximize CCleaner, it fills almost the whole screen BUT leaves out about the size of a scroll bar on the left side of the screen where i can see whatever is running under it. i have a widescreen laptop. wondering if anyone knows why this is happening and/or how to fix it.
  2. Honest news! therefore, you must accept what i say as the absolute truth, and nothing but, bc clearly i will not tell but the honest truth!
  3. not that that isn't funny, and i'm not even wondering what type of person makes such a site, but i really have to wonder how other people stumble across it...aww the internet, what a glorious tool of our age... PS: i love the lounge, never know what randomness will show up next
  4. What??? I'm not looking for downloads, or suggestive sites to obtain them, as for torrent clients, i've been a bitcomet kind of guy for a while now, but i've moved on to newsgroups now, faster and more reliable...
  5. nevermind, sorry for the wasted post, found a thread on it using the search feature, it didn't work the first time when i only put ogg, then i tried .ogg and it worked. If any mods read this, is it possible to add a feature to the forms for a poster to delete their post if they no longer need it? just a thought, sorry again wow, quick reply, thanks rridgely
  6. I use the second option, but my comp is a lapper. Another option, which may be more of a "think about for the future" is that a lot of dvd players can now play a wide variety of video formats from the dvd such as divx and xvid, and the windows one, i forget what its called...but anyway just something more to think about.
  7. I think what was being pointed out is that ptp networks are a cesspool of fake programs, real viruses/spyware, and an utter waste of time for all but perhaps music files. More to the point of my original post, I just found it kinda odd that you could download (yes the working version) of Limewire Pro using the free Limewire basic. I didn't really want to start up a list of all the reasons ptp networks suck. With all the warez and crack talk going on, i found it odd that a program designed to get this stuff is basically being hacked by itself, just kinda thought it was funny.
  8. my mom spent $10,000 on her first pc, a 386 i believe, she was the eny of all her friends, then the following year the price halved, still loved that old beast though, only programs i remember were: typing tutor, word perfect, where in the world is carmen sandiago, jill of the jungle, and star trek....aww the good 'ol days...
  9. wait, wait, wait, the guy at the store said these wern't coming out till next year, what a jerk
  10. So here goes, just something funny I was told the other day... A friend of mine was using the free Limewire basic and at the same time was doing some .exe cleaning in one of their folders. Well they had the text "limewire" Crtl+c at the time and happened to Crtl+v it into the search box of the open limewire session. Thinking it funny, they pushed Enter and sure enough up came matches for Limewire Pro with Crack. I just found it rather ironic that using the free limewire you could get a copy of the paid for version. ok well enough procrastination for now...
  11. Before I got my new comp I had to run win 98, and had spyware and viruses every other day, i was reformating weekly, however the tiny 4 gig harddrive helped make those formats quick and easy. now with my newhotness computer, never have spyware or viruses...kinda miss killin them with the bot, awww well...
  12. haha, not to sure, but i'm betting they have more pressing matters. As for the other comments, its not a matter of decrypting anything, you just need the right type of receiver and dish. kinda off topic here, but interesting non the less. The company's know its legal, but i'm guessing they don't make a big deal of it bc they make such profits of legit users. As for why its likely more popular up here, since the States has so many more stations and channels to choose from, theres a lot bigger insentive for us to watch your stations, also, many people who do it here also have a local provider which they do pay for, and just use the stolen signal for movies and such. who knows what the future will bring though, with internet TV becoming more popular, all the stations may be become open to anyone.
  13. to defend some of the Canadian highways' honour, where I live in Ontario, the 400 series highways are some of the best in the world. They are generally 3 lanes in each direction and really safe to drive faster on. The government has been discussing for years the possibility of raising the speed limit to 120 km/hr. As for the device, of course there will be people hacking them, and legally too. For example, in Canada it is legal to steal satelite signals as long as they are coming from the States, and I beleive the reverse is true also. It would be the same thing with cars, there can be no absolute when it comes to speed controllers, as changing the tire size alone could increase your speed...
  14. could you explain what you mean by this further, how can someone else give files to your computer if you are not downloading them? this sounds like a hackers delight...it could be that i misunderstand what it is you are saying Ultimate, but could you pls further explain it. thx
  15. thankx for the info, i've been looking for an excuse to try alcohol, well a different kind of alcohol anyway. cheers
  16. hello all, i have a program i would like to install to my hardrive, but all i have is a bin and a cue file. is there a way to do this without having to burn it to cd first? i'm running winXPsp2. thankx
  17. its definetly not site maint. its working on everyone elses comp. i'm gonna install opera and see if that is being blocked too. currently its being blocked by ff and ie. i'll report back any findings. thankx for the help
  18. my last employer restricted us from installing anything, but we could download whatever we wanted. i kept debating using bittorrent to download stuff since you don't install it to us, but i was nervous to do so since it would be obvious to anyone monitoring that i was dl sooo much more than anyone else. in the end, i think if you feel uneasy about something at work, then it is likely dangerous/wrong to do it, our gut feelings are often reliable. just my $0.02 here.
  19. yes, i'm using a few programs, well i think only msas for real time protection, and no add blocker, but the odd thing is that it just started today, and to the best of my knowledge i havn't changed any settings? one more thing, when logging into windows, a dialogue box popped up saying my virus definitions were out of date (using symantec corp) so i ran the live update and it said i was up to date. kinda odd i thought? anyway thats where i am right now, any further help would be appreciated.
  20. "Cookies required Your browser must be able to accept cookies in order to use this application." i got this msg for the first time when i visited a site i go to all the time. does anyone know how to deal with this? its happening in Firefox 1.07 as well as IE 6. i've checked my cookie settings and it all looks fine. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thankx
  21. ya i thought i had it but i guess i never reloaded it after my last format, anyway, the other program seems like it may do the trick, i just have to figure it out first. thankx both of you
  22. i all, i tried searching the threads but havn't really found what i'm looking for, although i'm pretty sure it was provided. anyway, i have two avi files i would like to mash up sort of, they are both the same tv show but one is missing the opening sequence and i'd like to copy it over from the other file. is there a video editing (preferbly freeware) program that can do this. thankx
  23. my laptop is basically on all the time, i don't have a phone so i use my msn as an answering machine of sorts. one question, when i am not using my comp i close the lid and the screen goes black, but i have this feeling that i can still see whats on the screen, very faintly, for instance, if i just hold down the button, then it appears to be almost completely black, but i can still kinda make out what was there. anyway, i know this badly writen, but hopefully someone understands what i'm saying, anyway, the question is, will the screen ever go completely black, over time if i leave it closed? thankx
  24. Homer: Umm ... I guess I'll take that one. Salesman: Well, do you need a paperweight? 'Cause if you buy that machine, that's all you're going to have, an expensive paperweight. Homer: Well, a paperweight would be nice, but what I really need is a computer. How about that one? [points to a second machine] Salesman: That technology is three months old. Only suckers buy out-of-date machines. You're not a sucker, are you sir? Homer: Heavens no! Salesman: Oh good, because if you were, I'd have to ask you to leave the store. Homer: I just need something to receive email. Salesman: [whistles] You'll need a top-of-the-line machine for that. [shows Homer a top-of-the-budget machine] That's the same computer astronauts use to do their taxes. Homer: I was an astronaut. Salesman: Of course you were.
  25. i think from your statememt i'll clear up two things, hopefully one of them is what you are asking. By using the Clean feature, only unused temp files are deleted, so it is very unlikely any "uninstaller" files would be deleted by using CCleaner. As for the other feature, under the tools tab, then under the Unistall window, CCleaner will list all the apps you have on your computer. if there is one you wish to remove from your computer, you should select the "Run Unistaller" button, which will trigger the built in unistaller file for the given application you wish to remove...this feature works like the "add-remove programs" feature built into windows. hopefully this clears up what you were asking, if not, re-post and try to explain the issue a little more in depth. goodluck
