  1. Now we all have told each other that the forum is all right (or not) it is time to focus again on the issues that are really important: it is time for CCleaner v1.38 !
  2. Removing an anti-spyware from SpywareWarrior's Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products list doesn't make it reputable. It just means it doesn't meet the criteria for inclusion anymore. It's a bit like the pirate Jack Sparrow from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: he may stop hijacking and robbing but that doesn't make him good enough to marry your daughter.
  3. It could be the result of you having downloaded the Dutch version of the Google toolbar. International (English) version is downloadable here: toolbar.google.com Nederlands (Dutch) version is downloadable here: toolbar.google.com/intl/nl/
  4. v1.37.456 can be disected into: 1 > release 1 (v2.0 is being worked on) 37 > public release 37 (so, there have been 38 'sub-releases' of release 1.0) 456 > internal release 456 (You can imagine that Piriform makesa lot of smaller changes to the program but, because they've decided to release a new version about once a month, they only publish the version that has all the smaller changes into it that were made during this month).
  5. Removing services isn't something you should mess around with. A better solution is to download and run RegSeeker with Andavari's RegSeeker customized exclude.ini file as an extra protection. RegSeeker has a new experimental feature that removes invalid services.
  6. Yes, I second that. Just like TwistedMetal does with his winapp2.ini. You can subscibe to this topic and get a message in your mailbox. It would make life a whole lot easier.
  7. We aren't talking here about Spyware Terminator from invender.nl ? Because if we are: it is on the SpywareWarrior list which lists rogue anti-spywareprograms.
  8. A registry defragmenter is a standard Windows feature. If you want to have one that is better, faster and free, try JkDefrag. Downloadable here
  9. True. I've just installed Java jre 1.6.0 but the old file (Java jre 1.5.0_09) is still there. Would be a nice addition to CCleaner.
  10. Well, the promise is current again now
  11. I second that wholeheartedly.
  12. Okay, so the new deadline is the end of january... I'll expect some sort of preview or screenshot somewhat earlier.
  13. From piriform.com (the owner of ccleaner.com) "Future Projects: We're currently working on new titles which will be out later this year. So keep an eye out!" I kept an eye out and it is later this year... So, where is it?
  14. RegSeeker 1.52 is a very good registry cleaner but sometimes it seems a bit too aggressive in its cleaning. Users have complained about programs and settings that have been modified when they shouldn?t be. To counter these problems Andavari has now created a customized exclude.ini file. Downloadable from a post just above this one or goto here.

    cwshredder

Finally got some sort of reply from Trend Micro:
  16. Another option is to download an run Koffix Blocker (www.koffix.com). It blocks a large number of sites and info is given on all those sites as to why Koffix decided to block them.

    cwshredder

I had already tried to contact Trend Micro, the owner of the program, a couple of times to ask if they planned to update cwshredder ever again but they never found it useful to react. Now I asked them again to react to this topic. Which they probably won't do So it seems that they let cwshredder die an ungraceful death.
  18. Spyware Terminator was on the rogue anti-spyware list because the company behind it was also the creator of the IBIS spyware. It was delisted because spywarewarrior again didn't find no problems serious enough to justify listing the program on this page. But: why use a program that has a bit of a chequered history if and when better programs are available.
  19. Thanksgiving has nothing to do with the founding of a country. It is an old pagan festival (hijacked by the early Christians in the Middle Ages) to celebrate the end of the harvest season. In the USA it is traditionally celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October. In the UK Thanksgiving is another name for the Harvest festival, held in churches across the country on a relevant Sunday to mark the end of the local harvest. But whatever its origins: happy thanksgiving!
  20. And that's why this solution to this problem has been posted (right above this topic) here in May 2005.
  21. Another option is to use AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. Goto the Tools-section and then to Windows Media Player and tick each option (except the last one).
  22. I use Defrag 2.25. It's small, fast and free. Check here
  23. From the FAQs: It's currently partially compatible with 64bit Windows XP, there are a few minor issues which are still being worked on. Maybe that's why.
