  1. Finally came out of hiding, huh? Welcome back. And don't worry.........we didn't tell the Feds anything.
  2. No problem. If you're like me........it was probably at the bottom of a stack of 400 CDs and some dirty socks.
  3. Hey parOx, You can try Everest Home Edition. It might give you the model number of your sound card. Everest download
  4. Hey mambonike, Your problem could be audio. I had the same problem. If you don't have a sound card, the sound chip on the motherboard can use a lot of resources when you get to a place in the game where there is a lot on noise, explosions, loud machines, etc. This will cause the game to get slow and choppy in these areas and clear up when the noise drops off. If you don't have a sound card, this will help. 1. Be sure you have the latest audio drivers for you computer. 2. Go to Control Panel and open DirectX. 3. Click on the DxDiag button. 4. Click on the Sound tab. 5. Set Hardware Sound Acceleration Level to the second notch and exit back to Control Panel. 6. Open Sounds and Audio Devices. 7. Click on the Audio tab. 8. Under Sound Playback, click the Advanced button. 9. Click the Performance tab. 10. Set Hardware Acceleration to the second notch, set Sample Rate Conversion Quality to the center notch and click OK. If you don't have the latest driver, the Hardware Acceleration in Sound and Audio Devices will go back to the default setting every time you boot up. DirectX will stay where you set it.

Russian???........DAMN......I thought you were trying to kick your way out of a straight jacket. What's really funny is when you click on the pic, in Firefox, you get a little tiny lokoike favicon in the address bar.

Well.....Mike could be short for Michelle. But if memory serves me, Mike's real name is Dave.

    Gmail kills FF

If you have Thunderbird, just forward your Gmail account to it. Works for me.
  9. This page from Silex gives all the details. Silex
  10. Hey bartboe, The only thing I could come up with is a "wireless USB device server". Silex makes one that is 802.11g and will handle up to 14 USb printers, scanners, harddrives, etc. Compuvest has them for around $118 US. Just search for this model # SX-2000WG.
  11. Check this one out. Motherboard Monitor
  12. I have a free email account with Mail2World and it usually works with sites that block free accounts. I guess it's hard to block cause you get to make up your own domain name for your email address.
  13. Couldn't find a pic showing the switch. There are several reviews I found on sites that sell them that mention the switch and I found one saying it didn't have a switch. They may have made them both ways or it's real hard to see. If you can't find anything in the user manual, look for a small recessed sliding switch.
  14. Did some looking. The cruzer mini 512 mb flash drive has a lock on one side near the back. Check it against the one that works and see if they are set in the same position.
  15. Some of the write protect lock I've seen are real tiny and use a ink pen or paper clip to move it. If your drive has one and your friend locked it, this could be it. Since the other one works, it's not locked. Worth a look. What brand and model is it?
  16. OK.....this may be a dumb idea...but some flash drives have a "write protection" lock on them, like the lock on a floppy. Have you checked this?

  19. Just a thought..... my brother has an old Gateway that will act weird now and then. When it's acting up, he will shut it down and push the reset button on the back of the tower and it clears up the problem. You might check their tower to see if it has a reset.

    Restore disk

You might try getting a replacement CD from Dell. This might help. Replacement CD
  22. I doubt the problem resulted just from leaving it on for 2 weeks. There may have been a surge during that time that fried something, like Tarun said, the monitor or something. Try another monitor. If it's a stock E-Machine, it is probably running graphics off of a mobo chip. You can try calling E-Machine's service line, 1-408-273-0888, or e-mailing them, support. Either way, pack a lunch and find you a good book.....you may be waiting for a while.
  23. Try this, on your desktop, right-click Explorer then click on the "Clear History" button. If that dosen't work, download this shareware program and run it. Tracks Eraser Pro
