  1. We don't know what to "un-tick;" that's the problem for us. We keep getting the "Open With" file when we do the Registry cleaner. Does anyone know which one that is?
  2. Re: Your = "you're probably best to untick that cleaning part in the registry" #1- How do I do that? What should be "un-ticked?" #2- Is that what you did? #3- You say that CC knows about this (open-with) issue? Sorry for all the questions, but this is a bit confusing for us. Alice
  3. Thank you. Your = "just whitelist them" What does that mean please and how is it done.
  4. Just installed the newest CC New version 3.04.1389. Someone said that this version does not work well with my Win7/64 Bit. I do notice that at the top of the CCleaner screen it does say 64-Bit. #1- Does this version work well with Win7 and 64-Bit? I notice almost every time I run the Registry cleaner, there are several "Open With..." files. Is this going to continue happening? Will these "Open With..." files keep showing? I delete them each time but they keep showing when next run is done. This never happened with previous versions! #2- Someone said that MS will keep replacing them after they are removed by CC. Is that true? But, what I really want to know is if these files are going to continue showing? #3- And, does CC work well with Win7? - #4- And 64-Bit Please advise and thank you for your help. Alice
  5. Installed the new version of CCleaner 3.04.1389 on our Vista and Win7 and every time we run the Registry, we keep getting items to remove. Is anyone else seeing the same thing and is this going to continue. Last ones were something to do with "OpenWith....etc." Is this a bug and is it going to be corrected, or must we keep removing them. It seems after we remove, MS puts them back in. Alice
  6. I do believe you are right. I never knew about that setting, but looked in Advanced and saw "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours." and noticed that it was indeed checked. I unchecked it and then did another scan with HouseCall. I looked in CCleaner and saw the large file "System Temporary Files" http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/3636/housecallcc.jpg Which I did not see before. I did a HouseCall scan. I then did a SpyBot scan and did not get that pop-up from SpyBot about items still being in System Temp Internet files. Thanks so much Alice
  7. I recently installed the TM HouseCall (64-Bit version) on my Win 7 (64-Bit). I ran the Quick Scan and then I used CCleaner to clean out temp files, etc. I then ran SpyBot S&D and got a pop-up that read: "We have located 134 temporary files. Scna speed will increase if you allow us to clean your temporary folder. Do you want SpyBot delete for you." http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/2263/spybothousecall.jpg I ran CCleaner as I always to and wonder why this pop-up from SpyBot? Does anyone know? Maybe CCleaner cannot/does not remove HouseCall tempoary files? Is anyone else using Win 7 (64-Bit) and HouseCall and SpyBot. And if so, did you get same message? Maybe CCleaner cannot delete HouseCall temp files. Just very confusing. Alice

    ATDMT

The reason I asked if CCleaner would delete ATDMT tracking cookie is that when I got the AVG Resident Shield pop-up about an ATDMT tracking cookie notice, I just closed (x) the box, thinking I would clear it out when I do my usual CCleaner after every session. However, when I looked in the Cookies when I was doing the CCleaner Cleaner, I didn't see a ATDMT mentioned there.

    ATDMT

Will CCleaner pick-up Tracking Cookies? I've read that "Tracking cookies are the same as regular cookies because they install on your computer server when you navigate to certain websites. The only difference is that tracking cookies are used in unlawful ways to attempt to steal personal information. Atdmt is a tracking cookie that secretly installs on your computer and should be dealt with as soon as it's detected."

    ATDMT

I have AVG 9 installed and set the Resident Shield to search for Tracking Cookies. Now, whenever I open my Hotmail and in other IE8 searches, I get a AVG pop-up stating it has found a Tracking Cookie for ATDTMT. I keep removing it, but it keeps coming back. If this 'cookie' dangerous to my computer? If I turn off the AVG Resident Shield for Tracking Cookies, will CCleaner pick it up so when I clean out the cookies after each session, the ATDKT cookie will also be cleaned out? I looked in CCleaner several times when I got the pop-up, but I never saw the ATDMT cookie in the Cookie area. Can someone please help as I don't know that much about computers and don't know if this ATDMT is going to ruin my computer. Does CCleaner check for and remove Tracking Cookies, such as this ATDMT? Thank you Alice
  12. My grandson received a deskop for xmas with Windows 7 Premium and 64 bit. Will CC work with Windows 7 Premium AND 64 bit? Thanks you.
  13. When I clean-out the Registry in my CCleaner and I save a "copy," the save file name is usually something like: "cc_20091226_111524.reg" Can I change that (number) file name to something like: "Quicken.reg" OR "cc_20091226_Quicken.reg" ? Could that be done, or does the save file name always have to be saved as quoted (cc_20091226_111524.reg)? Please advise and thank you.

    Cookies

    Thank you both...

    Cookies

If I add the Google cookie (google.com) to the Cookies to Keep, does that mean that every cookie for Google, and sites found in Google, will be saved? Or does it just mean that the one cookie for "google.com" will be saved? Don't know if I am explaining this correctly or not. In time will there be a large build-up (large storage space) of ALL google cookies that must/should be cleaned out (by removing the google.com from the Cookies to Keep (and then putting it back again after one clean)? I notice to keep the Google Search Preferences in Google, I have to add the google.com to the Cookies to Keep in CCleaner. Please advise and many thanks. Alice
  16. Thank you. I open CCleaner and then I click at lower right where it says "Check for Updates." Then I choose to download the Slim build. The download begins and then gets 75% - 90% of the way though, and then I get pop-up message: "Internet Explorer cannot download ccsetup223_slim.exe from www.ccleaner.com. The connection with the server was reset." I've also tried the Install rather than the Save, but with same results. (Read somewhere on Internet that someone else was having similar problem, but don't remember where I read it.)
  17. I am now unable to download new update to my CCleaner on my notebook which has Win98 and IE6. The download gets 3/4 through and then it states connection with CCleaner was disconnected. (Have always been able to do the downloads in the past.) This has been going on for quite some time and I have been copying the new CC updates from my WinXP computer (disk) and copying them to the Win98 notebook (pain in the neck). But I am not near my WinXP computer at this time. How can I download the updates to my Win98 notebook? Thank you Alice (Anyone else having same problem?)
  18. I've never had problem downloading updates to my CCleaner (Slim) version on this Win98se computer. However, the past couple of downloads have gotten 3/4 through the download and then a pop-up stating something about IE (6) not being able to continue the download. I have to copy the CCleaner update from my desktop to a CD and then put the CD in the Win98se notebook and copy the CCleaner to the Win98se notebook in order to install the new updates for CCleaner on the Win98se notebook computer. Would anyone know what might be causing this to happen the past couple of update downloads? Thank you Alice

    Newest update

Thanks. Slim version is about 900 kb and usually downloads faster on my dial-up. As a senior citizen with limited funds I try to connect just once a day because of the telephone charges, taxes, etc. I'll wait a while to download again and see what happens. I wish CCleaner had another site (mirror, I think it is called) to download from in case we were having a 'problem' with the other one. Oh well, just have to live with it I guess. Alice

    Newest update

Thanks. Never had a problem before downloading the Slim version. And, I have just downloaded updates for SpyBlaster and SpyBot with no problems. Does FileHippo offer the CCleaner slim version for download? I'm on dial-up and each restart is another phone call charge.

    Newest update

I've opened my CCleaner today (on my Win98se) computer and clicked on lower right "Check for Updates." There was an update 2.17.853. However, after 3/4 of the download, I get a message "The connection with the server was reset." I tried several times, same result! What is happening? I can't keep trying to download if I keep getting this message, correct? Alice
  22. Yes, now I remember asking question back then. I was just surprised to notice those 21 items in my Registry and then I realized I had opened the Add/Remove prior. I do delete the entries (no backups now). Originally, there were 9 items to be deleted. Now, as I said, I notice 21 items on all computers. Thought this could be something that could be "corrected," as I am sure that other people beginning to use CCleaner will be questioning why these items are appearing (not knowing about the opening of the Add/Remove causing it). Guess it cannot be corrected and we will have to keep doing the deleting.
  23. Wonderful to hear!!! I am not alone! I think it might be something that CCleaner adm should address.
  24. Thanks. Yeah, I remember now. I posted similar message back about a year ago (don't see it in my subscriptions) and someone told me those entries were showing because I had opened the Add./Remove in Control Panel and sure enough, when I opened the Add/Remove again, I looked in the CC Registry Sann and all those items were back there again. He said he knew about it because he was seeing the same thing. I hope he sees this post so I am not imagining this (even though I am sure I am not). You might not see it as I mentioned I did not see it on one of my computers,. but did see it on my other two (including one just bought a few days ago).
  25. I have 3 computers with WinXPsp3 and on each I have CCleaner. When I run the CCleaner on one of them and do a Registry Scan, nothing is reported. Fine On the other two (one of them recently received) when I run the CCleaner and then the Registry Scan, I keep getting a 20 or more entries mentioning something like "Uninstaller Ref Issue." I notice this happens ONLY after I have opened the Add/Remove in the Control Panel. If I don't open the Add/Remove I never see those entries. I have heard that other people also see the same thing when they open Add/Remove in Control Panel and then run a CC Registry Scan. Since I notice it on two machines, I know it is not one computer acting up. Anyone else see the same thing? Anyone know how this can be fixed? Alice
