  1. I did what AnGrA did.. only allowed one mac address (mine) access to the network when you do that, virtually no one can connect to the network except you..
  2. what about other people (like me) who know that their hotfixes are 100% working correctly.. and they want to get rid of those uninstallers to free up disk space? I don't want to have to wait 2 entire months, just to delete them.. I think it's fine as it is. it's a checkbox. you can check it if you want to delete them, or you can uncheck it and leave them alone. though I think there should be a warning message, when you check the box. right now, there's no warning, and too many people are deleting these uninstallers when they might need them a warning message saying something like "Are you sure you want to delete these uninstallers? You won't be able to uninstall hotfixes after this. Please make sure they are working correctly before you do this." that would be a really good idea
  3. I'd buy it might come in handy if there's ever an apocalypse and zombies take over the earth

    PC clock

hi, I have a question that I've been wondering for a long time now, it's about the PC clock! my question is, how does it always know the correct time? even when you turn your computer off for a long time, then turn it back on, it has the current time.. even when you unplug your PC. even when you DC your internet (so it can't update that way) so.. does this clock run on battieries or something? is it always running, inside my PC somewhere? how does it always know the correct time? is there some secret power supply on my PC I don't know about? this one has had me stumped for awhile now how does this thing work?
  6. I use CCleaner 2 and I haven't run into any bugs.. it works fine for me.
  7. I use Eusing Registry Cleaner it does give a few false positives every once in awhile, but what can you expect.. it's free and you can't expect it to be perfect. just scan through the registries it finds and make sure they are okay to delete
  8. another reason I like Linux ! programs are never 'knotted' into the system, and everything is always uninstallable
  9. lol don't worry, it happens to the best of us
  10. most funny comment ever
  11. login123, a lot of virus scanners and adware programs will detect this as a bad program.. because, well, it's a keylogger.. it's normal for them to flag it i've had no problems with them, and i'm pretty sure there's no viruses or anything on them. i don't think download.com would host them if they were bad. they have a zero policy against hosting programs that have adware/viruses. they scan everything they host. it's most likely to be safe. edit: LOL.. I just read some of the comments you were talking about! they are too funny! check out this one: oh noes! don't download it! there's a keylogger on it! hahahahahah oh jeez, that made my day..
  12. hes not in the wrong forum.. asking for a keylogger for personal use is fine.. saying it's bad, is like saying buying a lighter is bad, because it might be used to burn someone.. also, there are many legitimate reasons a person would want to use a keylogger. monitoring your desktop actions (security wise) is one reason. especially if one runs a server, or uses remote access.. monitoring what your children browse on the internet... if you work at a pc for a company, boss might install one on each computer to monitor exactly what he is paying you (and coworkers) to do.... many other reasons, too many to list.. KGB Free Keylogger 4.02 http://www.download.com/3000-2162_4-10677956.html here's a good keylogger, it logs a lot of things (more then just keystrokes) and it's free. Ghost Keylogger 3.73 http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10252681.html this one is a lot smaller, has less features. it logs keystrokes, the time, and nothing else. smaller file size
  13. www.youtube.com ! i can browse that site for hours and just watch videos all day i was browsing it the other day and discovered a sport I've never heard of before, it's called "Parkour" check it out, it's pretty crazy.. I wish I could do that!
  14. like Whitesharksaid.. I hope this doesn't turn into a huge bulky program.. it's light-weight now, and it gets the job done. I hope it stays small ! however there's one thing I would like to see, don't know if it's possible, but what about defragging the paging file? (and other system files that are impossible to defrag while windows is running) would this be at all possible?
  15. you are totally right. I don't think there's any problem, I just think they are getting way too impatient and jumpy with the releases! lol.. I laughed when i read the release notes, for 2.0.0.7 there's only one change/fix! (a code fix, for QuickTime Media-link files..) link for the 2.0.0.7 release notes: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/k...#firefox2.0.0.7 how funny! are they really this impatient? why can't they wait until they have 5-10 new security fixes / features, then release them altogether? at this rate, they're going to release a new Firefox version every 3 days
  16. PC doesn't support dual channel. I have the 512 PC3200 in slot one, 256 PC2700 in slot two. so having different sizes/speeds is ok? or it's not recommended? I'm thinking of buying the same 512 chip, so they match.. I don't think my PC likes me mixing them up
  17. alright, I have a question, I thought it would be better to ask here, instead of creating a new thread. I bought a new 512 chip, and I have added it to my old 256. ever since I've added it to my system, when I am playing an online game, about 20-30 minutes into the game, the screen freezes and makes me restart. this never used to happen the two chips are different speeds. one is PC2700, the other is PC3200. is this the cause of the problem? I was told it is okay to mix speeds. PS. I buy my ram from crucial also cheap and ships fast

    CCleaner Help.

hello, some options under Advanced section can reset those Windows Size/Location Cache - "This will reset any saved Windows Explorer location and view settings." make sure this one is unchecked - it's probably the culprit you might want to also uncheck these, since they clear out any custom ordering you have made; Menu Order Cache - "Refreshes your start menu. Any custom ordering will be lost." User Assist History - "Removes most used program list, in your start menu."
  19. I think Glenn's right, if you are using winapp2.ini, you should have Outlook 2003 under Applications tab. just uncheck that
  20. I don't think this feature is implemented yet, but Ron said it will be in the future !
  21. hello in CCleaner, under 'Applications' tab, there should be an entry called Office 2003 / Office 2007 that's the entry that deletes your outlook cache. unticking that should stop CCleaner from cleaning it. although, unticking that option will also stop CCleaner from cleaning other apps.. because that option also cleans out caches for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, FrontPage, and Visio, along with OutLook if you use any of those programs, and still want to clean those, but not OutLook.. what you can do is, open the winapp.ini file which is located in your CCleaner directory, and manually edit it. just find the OutLook entries, and delete those lines, then save the file. this will stop CCleaner from cleaning out the OutLook files. but if you don't use any of those programs (excel, word, ect) simply unticking that option should be fine ! for recovering; all the OutLook cache files are saved into the registry. so if you have a registry backup, from BEFORE you ran CCleaner, then that backup should work.
  22. hi I don't think a list like that exists, but! you can just open up the winapp.ini file. this file shows all of the files CCleaner is supposed to clean out, and also all of the program names this file is located in C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ or where ever you installed CCleaner. might also want to check out the winapp2.ini post on the forums it's an extension. a user created list, that people on the forums made, and has an even longer list of programs, for CCleaner to clean out I think it adds like 50+ programs to the list you already have, and cleans junk from more places
  23. I was watching one of those action movies the other day, and they were trying to trace the 'bad guys' connection. as they were tracing, they said "It says he's calling from New York! Wait.. now it says he's in Africa! What the hell, his connection is being bounced all over the world!" then I said.. "damn! that guy must be using Tor!" my brother started laughing but no one else got it sorry, this post just reminded me of that PS; using Tor is bad. making your connection go through other users computers = not good..
  24. there.. I only allowed my MAC address to access the network, all others are blocked.. that should do it on a side note, I heard about this person, who would leave their network open on purpose, so people would log on, and he would then monitor their activity and see where they go, and get their user/passwords on internet forms from a legal stand point, could you get in trouble for that? I mean, if you think about it, it's HIS network, not theirs.. he should be able to monitor his own network if he wants to, shouldn't he? ( ps. i'm not talking about bank accounts and stuff since that's obviously highly illegal, I'm talking about forum logins / myspace account and stuff like that ) 'cause it's your network. you should be able to monitor it's activity.. i mean, HE'S the one intruding you, he's on your network!
