  1. Have you tried: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_error_op..._file_-_Firefox as suggested in another thread? It worked for me.
  2. I'm confused. Doesn't the thread that you linked to link to this thread again? Anyway, the Mozillazine fix worked for me.
  3. I haven't come across Eraser before, but would rather not install even more software on my PC.
  4. The Windows Scheduled Tasks function takes you through step by step. Just edit the command that's run, and that's it.
  5. I've had the same problem (both IE and FF opening). FF is my default browser, and I have tried running firefox.exe -silent -nosplash -setDefaultBrowser, but I still get FF and IE opening when I click on "check for updates" in CCleaner. This is only a minor annoyance, but it would be nice to get it fixed. I'm running WinXP-Home-SP2 and the latest version of CCleaner.
  6. There seem to have been numerous posts on the subject of index.dat files, but I haven't found one that has been totally conclusive. My understanding is that CCleaner cannot delete the index.dat files while Windows is running, so needs to delete them during boot-up. This can only be done using regular deletion, not using secure deletion. I've also found that, in order for CCleaner to delete all the information from the index.dat files, it must be run just before shutting the PC down. I have CCleaner set to run at start-up. If I use Internet Explorer or Windows Live Messenger while my PC is running, then CCleaner doesn't delete all the information when I reboot the PC. Is this correct?
  7. I think the best option would be a "Run CCleaner securely" right-mouse-click option on the recycle bin. This could either, as you suggested, use an option from CCleaner, or there could be a sub-menu that gives the various options.
  8. I realise that CCleaner already has several secure options. Normally these don't interest me, because I just use CCleaner for a clean PC, not because I'm worried about people recovering deleted files. However, sometimes I would like to securely delete particular files. This is, of course possible, by deleting the file as normal, changing the deletion option in CCleaner, running CCleaner, and then changing the deletion option back again. I was just wondering whether a "Securely delete with CCleaner" right-mouse-click option in Windows Explorer, or a "Securely empty recycle bin" right-mouse-click option on the recycle bin, might be possible. Thanks for a brilliant program.
  9. Use the Windows Scheduled tasks to make CCleaner run automatically. If you open CCleaner, and then click on Options, it tells you the command line parameter. /AUTO - Runs the cleaner upon loading, and then closes the application. 10. Excellent tip. I'd never thought to backup my CCleaner settings before.
  11. I agree. I thought it was a feature, but can't find it anywhere, so must be mistaken.
