  1. The only time I had that same problem was when I had stupidly removed some critical registry items from the registry of Windows XP.The most I'd get is the desktop and background, but no icons or the Toolbar would not appear. My computer, pretty much, died. Did you happen to run the registry cleaner? I don't know if that's the problem, but it should not be because it removes things that are safe to remove from your system. What exactly did you do before you ran CCleaner?
  2. Or maybe reading manuals may not be something people do. Instead they'd prefer to see what the application does first hand before they resort to looking at a manual. I personally do this, but on some important programs I would read the helpme files.
  3. Have you just tried reseting the tower? Mine has been doing that as of late, and it usually is fixed when I hit the reset button my tower. Have you tried holding the power button on your pc for 5 seconds (until your pc turns off) then turning it back on again? I don't know if these suggestions would work, but they're worth a shot, right?
  4. I've had a few programs that I've uninstalled from my system, but they still appeared in the Add/Remove list. In some instances, it should ask you if you want to remove the item off of the list (since it might have detected it removed). Also, it's a good idea (if you haven't done this already) and go find the file of CCleaner and see what was removed. For the most, if you go to install a newer version the installer for the new version should uninstaller all unnecessary parts of the older version and install the parts for the newer version. http://www.zsoft.dk/index/software_details/4 Try installing that uninstaller. I hear some say it's better than Windows XP Add/Remove programs. It can also detect hidden programs. Hope this helps...
  5. Wow, why are alot of people having problems running it? What kind of OS do you guys have? And what kind of processors do you have? My pc is old and it's able to run it without any problems...
  6. I am glad they're releasing another version of the browser. I enjoy using Firefox, and they're making things even better.
  7. I agree, JK Defrag is a good defragmenter. I was a little skeptical due to his lack of GUI, but I tried it and it defagments my computer alot better then the current defragmenter I am using. Give it a shot: you'll love it
  8. o_O Sorry, I don't think I know anything about that site... There are alot of weird sites out there...
  9. "but they are constantly working on the programs...creating and improving 3 freeware titles that are ridiculously popular is not easy, especially when you they survive by donations." Yes, I understand that. Programing is something that can be VERY time consuming. Thanks for the report, Tron04. I kind of saw that everyone liked JK defrag and they said it was a great defragmenter, but I never realized it was true.
  10. They probably read it, but they may not know how to resolve the issues you're having. I like to look over posts in an attempt to help, but my suggestions may not help the issue; hence, I do not respond to them.
  11. Now I've been watching this forum for a few weeks and nothing posted has helped me figure out whether I should download this program or not. So, those of you who used this, can some of you give me a short summry of the good and bad things about this program? And would you recommend me using this program? Thank you very much for your responses.
  12. I see. I thought about defragging in safe mode. The odd things is that when I used only Windows Defrag in the past, I wouldn't have such a fragmented results when I analyzed. I am going to try and defrag in Safe mode. Thanks for your responses. I appreciate them very much.
  13. So, sometimes, mutliple defragmentations are necessary? I already defragged my computer twice (in the same month) and whenever I analyze with Windows Defrag it still shows alot of red then there is supposed to be. If you guys know, what is the best time to defrag your computer? I already understand that before the PC starts it should be defragged them, but are there other times when it would be best or...? Again, thanks guys for your responses...
  14. Ok, so I use 3rd party defragmentation tools. When I got analyze how much framentation is on my drive with Window's Defragger, it says there's lots of fragmentation (not to the point where it said "You need to defragment this drive"). Next, I deframent my computer after that report. I analyzed again and Windows Defragger says the same thing: I still have framentation. Does any know what's up with that, or is just Windows Defragmentor being idiotic? Thanks for a response.
  15. That's exactly what I thought when I read the page.
  16. Sorry for reposting on a subject already discussed. I guess I should have looked beyond the first page. Thank you for the link.
  17. Try checking the permissions you have set. On Windows XP: Start --> Set Program Access and Defaults. An alternative would be to download a plug in that allows you to use IE from the Firefox Browser. Link to plug-in: http://tinyurl.com/27zzqt
  18. Ironically, I heard some guys talking (while I was at college). This guy who was talking had two partitions; one of those partitions had Windows XP while the other, Vista.
  19. Has anyone downloaded the newest version of Spybot? I noticed a few things that seem to happen with my system when I run it. It takes longer to start up It freezes momentarily when I update I want to know if anyone else who uses Spybot is having the same problem or is it just me? Also, is there any harm in having 2 versions of Spybot (meaning I had an older version and I installed the newer version before I removed the older version)? I had that case before and it never seemed to bother my system, but after this update my system seems to hate Spybot. Even after I removed both versions and reinstalled the newer version it still has the same symptoms above. Thank you for any help you can provide.
  20. Have you tried making the shortcut to the actual EXE file?
  21. Lol. My kicked in when I was just reading a post from another forum.
  22. I use registry cleaners at random times. Sometimes I only use them when I want to make sure something is completely uninstalled. Otherwise, I won't use it everyday: I just use them once every few days up to once every 5 weeks.
  23. I think, if I remember right, Norton put some pretty funky rootkits in my system. Some of them were hidden until I used a rootkit scanner. I never heard of MSN skinner. I feel sorry for whoever downloads that. Sadly, it just shows something: people are willing to put spyware into a seemingly harmless piece of software.
