    Iphone 5

I've never been anywhere where NFC was used. I decided to go for it because of build quality, camera improvements, and the operating system. I have my nexus 7 which I like but I'm not sure I want that OS on my phone. I have a problem with the way android manages running applications, I don't want programs killing my battery.

    Iphone 5

Anyone else pre-order an iphone 5?
  3. The most useful thing in my opinion would be comments about all of the places your highlighting. If your going to talk about a hotel, restaurant, ect. Provide a place for users to share their experiences there, also provide links to sites like travelocity or kayak. That way users can book their hotels there and also see more comments about them. Maybe provide menus and prices for local restaurants? Create a forum for people to discuss the area and give suggestions. (kinda like this one) All I got right now.
  4. I've been a Zune Pass user for a long time. MS seems like its about to kill it off and my subscription runs out next month. I've been looking for alternatives and spotify seems interesting. Anyone use it? Only downside seems to be the method in which it downloads music(you have to make playlists, seems dumb to me). I LOVE zune pass. I'm unfortunately not going to be using Windows Phone anytime soon and I'm worried that I might lose support for music downloads on my Zune HD. The other fear is that if I lose/break my zune its going to cost a fortune to replace it since they aren't made any longer.
  5. I've been using google chrome since I got my Nexus 7. Only reason is because it syncs my bookmarsk(also use chrome on iphone) pretty slick that I have even my most recent bookmarks on any device I use. One thing I hate about chrome is that it doesn't have the option to clean out my history on browser exit.
  6. http://www.amazon.co...d/dp/B004GILTB6 I think that quote you have isn't accurate. I googled the number and found a link to it on amazon. Same AMD c-50 as every other amd based netbook. Its not quad core, its dual core with a dedicated gpu. Ultrabooks are much more than just thin laptops. http://www.amazon.co...words=ultrabook Core i5, 6 hours of battery life, 13.3 inch screen and only an ounce heavier than the netbook I linked too. Yeah its double the price but its actually a useful computer too. Netbooks are dog slow. Edit: Looking at that ultrabook the computer even has a SSD for the OS and a regular drive to store your files on. I think I might buy this pc....
  7. Never seen a netbook with a quad core processor. Most of them have atom or amd e/c series processors. You could probably find an ultrabook with a quad core(or a macbook air) but your talking in the $1000 range and not the $300 price of a netbook.
  8. I went to bestbuy yesterday to buy a new monitor. Ended up with this: http://www.bestbuy.c...311xi&cp=1&lp=1 23 inch IPS display for 169.99(was on sale). So far it seems pretty good. Not 100% sure I'm going to keep it yet. Gonna see what else I can find. While I was in there I heard a salesman trying to sell a laptop to an older couple. They asked what kind of laptop they should buy and they were looking at a cheap laptop with a Pentium processor. The salesman told them that pentiums were old technology and that Intel hasn't changed them in 10 years! I couldn't help but start laughing.
  9. The machine did have the latest MSE installed. It would flag a file at boot up but couldn't remove it permanently. I had never seen a virus that will hide all the files on a computer before, the desktop looked crazy when I booted it up! I cant try any other scans thought because I backed up and formatted the machine. The laptop had a recovery partition, so this seemed like the easiest way to get a clean and safe windows install. I have bookmarked hitman pro, seems interesting. I think I remember that program a while ago needing to have a bunch of different programs installed, now its getting all of their definitions from the cloud?(just from their description it what it seems like).
  10. A family member brought over a laptop with a nasty virus. They told me the virus started out by telling them that their hard drive was failing and then all of their files, shortcuts, desktop background, and even start menu links disappeared. The virus hid every file on the computer. I had never seen anything quite like this one. The remedy was to run Malware Bytes in safe mode to remove the virus and this tool to unhide the files: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/unhide/ The machine had Microsoft Security Essentials installed but it didn't catch the viruses. It did flag a few files, but MBAM was the only thing that cleaned it up.
  11. My advice is to turn the video games off, get a part time job(grocery store, movie theater, gas station, whatever), and also get involved in extra curricular activities at your university. If you graduate college without the necessary social and work skills then it will be next to impossible to find a job no matter what degree you have.
  12. I read about that too Hazel. I wonder why they are worried about it now, they have been using the name Metro since the Zune HD came out. (2009)
  13. Not a huge loss in my opinion. Safari was awful on windows. (the Mac users I know don't even use it, they use firefox)
  14. Go to the gear in the top right, click more mail settings and then you will see a link that says create an outlook alias.
  15. If your looking to listen to your local radio stations: http://www.iheart.com/ You don't need a program, just put in your address. You can also search for artists and get suggestions. Also: http://www.pandora.com/ I use these on my phone and tablet all the time.
  16. I've been using Hotmail since they changed to live.com. I use the desktop client to check my email though. I hate Gmail, my university changed to Gmail for my .edu account and I hate the interface. I also can't get pop access working. Worked fine before the switch. I did grab the @outlook accounts I wanted. I like live better though, shorter
  17. Marry a rich girl, that's the only way your going to make millions of dollars and be able to play video games all day.
  18. Its like the first link hazel. Except its a newer version that looks and more importantly behaves like the installed version of word. Open office and abiword can't compete with MS Office. As a teacher I couldn't live without PowerPoint, all students will need Word in college(no teacher cares why your documents aren't formatted correctly). And quite a few businesses would be up the creek without Excell. Libreoffice is impressive for a free product, but it can't compete with office.
  19. Microsoft just updated their office online apps and their actually pretty good. I was using my skydrive when I got an invitation to try the new beta version of office online. The old versions were terrible(so is google docs) but the new ones are a LOT better. If you need office and don't have the cash, I would say try the online versions. I always had a hard time formatting word documents before, now it works just like the offline version. Oh and BTW its free, all you need is a skydrive account: https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=11&ct=1342924104&rver=6.1.6206.0&wp=MBI_SSL_SHARED&wreply=https:%2F%2Fskydrive.live.com%2F&lc=1033&id=250206&mkt=en-US&cbcxt=sky

    Nexus 7

Found a game called dead trigger. 99 cents and it looks like left for dead. Crazy graphics.

    Nexus 7

Jellybean seems cool so far. I think anyone who plays games will love the nexus 7. Sony and Nintendo should be worried. I downloaded tegra 3 version of a game called Shadowgun and the graphics are stunning. Beats 3ds and close or better than vita. Game was only 5 bucks. Crazy.

    Nexus 7

Yeah that's the bad thing about Android. I like that this is a nexus which means I'll get all new updates. My next phone may be a nexus, I have 4s right now, going to wait and see what iPhone 5 is like.

    Nexus 7

I don't think they are making much on them. I got the 16gig So it was 250. I used my touchpad a lot to browse, email and watch videos. This thing is better at all of those functions. Jellybean is awesome compared to ice cream sandwich. Very smooth. Gonna try some games soon, mostly been watching videos.
