  1. cost $29.95US That's $33.32CAD which is equal to a gourmet dinner for one or 24 deluxe beer or one 750ml very fine wine. I'd much rather spend this with my significant other preferably in a cozy chateau by a nice warm fire
  2. Emphasis by me Downloading it now to check it out Update: It won't work on my ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4S8X-MX motherboard
  3. hpHOSTS file IE-SPYAD AVG Free Kerio firewall v2.1.5 SUPERAntiSpyware SpywareBlaster WinPatrol Windows Defender HostsMan IE7 beta 3
  4. CCleaner keeps the cookies I want and deletes the ones I don't want so it is working well for me I also use Index.dat Suite to clean up all the index.dat files plus I have it set to defrag the hard drives at reboot so that the defrag occurs before WinXP comes up fully: http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=Product...=index.datsuite Note: Do NOT select the index.dat file for cleanup in the PCHEALTH Folder. It usually is displayed in Red
  5. The TIF is set to be about 10% of the hard drive it is installed on. This was OK back when the hard drives were less than 10GB but now with the large hard drives the number of files in the TIF can become huge. In Internet Explorer go to Tools then Internet Options then Settings then set the size to 50MB which should be plenty for a weeks worth of surfing
  6. Peter, welcome. Hopefully my post won't get deleted I use the great tools ERUNT and NTREGOPT to accomplish these tasks:http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ Description is available in both English and German I believe that this site will help:http://www.bumpersoft.com/Utilities/Regist...s_and_Utilities I use CCleaner to Scan for Issues to remove obsolete registry entries: http://www.ccleaner.com Your English is much better than my non-existant German
  7. IE7 Beta is still not ready for prime time. Why would you want to un-install SP2 and expose your system to the rampant infections on today's malware infested Internet
  8. The land sharks (lawers) are rubbing their hands with glee. Ah is the typical creed US of A people live by.
  9. My knowledge of CCleaner * Registry entries that point to non-existant or deleted files * Ad site tracking cookies Have a look at the Cleaner Settings panel and it shows the items it will clean. You could uncheck all entries and select them one by one then see if your system is impacted by the entries deletion. In my experience, I have not found CCleaner deleted anything I needed. Not unless you explicitly ask it to delete it. Not unless you explicitly ask it to delete them. See answers above.

  11. http://www.ccleaner.com Its a coincidence not an issue. You probably got it from a drive-by infected site and you did not have the recommended prevention protection installed. Post a HijackThis log in the correct area and the experts will look at it.
  12. buzzard, sorry to hear about your problem. Please read: Prevention protection implementation http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=11523
  13. Have a look in List of Lists Netwok tools: http://lists.thedatalist.com/pages/Network_Tools.htm
  14. Firefox is a teenage toy. Locking down Internet Explorer takes real men(woman)
  15. The index.dat files are cleared out then Windows creates new ones that are the default size. Index.dat Suite will also clean out the index.dat files at bootup: http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=Products&p=index.datsuite Index.dat Suite cleans out several other Windows temp areas. I use it about once a week. I have it set up to clean areas that CCleaner does not clear but I guess it could be set up to do this. I have been using Index.dat Suite for a long time way before CCleaner became avialble.
  16. Any member that displays the A.S.A.P. link in their signature is a bona fide malware fighter http://asap.maddoktor2.com
  17. I'm looking forward to it. I will post an announcement over at Calendar of Updates (CoU) when I see v1.29 is available and I have tested it on my WinXP Home with SP2 system.
  18. Install a more powerful power supply. The current power supply is under powered so installing an enhanced power supply should fix the problem
  19. Why bother? Hard drives are so cheap right now and compressing a hard drive is so CPU intensive that it causes NOTICIBLE delays accessing applications and data!
  20. Some services even though are set to Manual will be started by other services that are Automatic because they need some information from the Manual service.
  21. It seems to work as advertised but I can't see any differences nor advantages of using it over CCleaner.
  22. The Temporary Internet Folder in Internet Explorer (IE) defaults to 10% of the hard drive which was OK when hard drives were 10MB or less. In IE go to Tools then Internet Options then Settings then move the slider down to 40MB. This should speed up browsing and make it quicker to clean it out.
  23. I have found that System Restore created a restore point for any application install or un-install.
