  1. For temporary (not permanent) protection of certain folders, it would be very useful if we could simple restore a list of those locations inside CCleaner > Options > Exclude. That way if we wanted to temporarily protect 5 folders from cleanup, we could just Restore a list of their locations instead of adding them individually. The point here is that some people have temporary needs, while others set things up permanently. This option would help people with temporary needs.
  2. As of v3.09 the only two options are 1. Have your custom desktop shortcut replaced with default icon. 2. Have your custom desktop shortcut deleted if you uncheck the setup options to include desktop shortcut when updating.
  3. Read only shortcut will still get deleted or replaced, the only way to prevent CCleaner from messing with your custom shortcut is to *not* name the shortcut CCleaner.
  4. There is no option to leave the custom desktop icon alone when (frequently) updating this program. Current choices are to remove existing shortcut or overwrite existing custom shortcut with its custom icon.
  5. Just because people UNCHECK: Add Desktop Shortcut when updating CCLeaner, that shouldn't mean a go ahead to delete existing custom CCleaner Desktop icons! Maybe include a a button on the side that UNCHECKS all options and leaves current settings in place when updating CCLeaner would resolve this. We have to UNCHECK five things now every time we update CCleaner so that would make things quicker.
  6. Simple enough, I wonder why we have to wait 2 days or more for the slim version... There should be an announcement to wait rather than just dead nothing like now when you try to download the slim version.
  7. The flash cookies mentioned in this article, are they already being cleaned by CCleaner version 2 or 3? http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1936858/adobe-provides-cookie-killer-flash
  8. For secure environments and machines not allowed to access the internet, manually downloading the new version of CCleaner is the only way to install updates. Then we have to manually UNCHECK all five Install Options: ? We don't need to Add Desktop Shortcut - it's just a manual update ? We don't need to Add Start Menu Shortcuts - it's just a manual update ? We don't need to Add 'Run CCleaner' option to Recycle Bin context menu - it's just a manual update ? We don't need to Add 'Open CCleaner...' option to Recycle Bin context menu - it's just a manual update ? We don't need to Automatically check for updates to CCleaner - it's just a manual update for secure machines not allowed to interact with even secure servers. Can we please have UNCHECK ALL in the lower right corner of the install window? Then we have to wait five seconds because the firewall is not allowing CCleaner to phone home and check if there's a newer version than the one we *just* downloaded. Can we please have Disable Update and Deselect All option? Thank you.
  9. Many times discussions like this turn into what the authors should or shouldn't do and we miss the big point: authors should should do what they think is best just include the option to turn auto update off, which we we can't do now. Maybe a single button in the corner for everyone who is manually updating that would turn off updates and uncheck all five install check marks?
  10. You guys didn't understand: In situations where firewalls block access to internet to all applications except to Firefox, then you have to manually update CCleaner... and that is when you encounter the problem of: 1. Having to wait for CCleaner to figure out it can't access the internet before finally continuing the installation. 2. Having to uncheck all install options manually instead of clicking on one Deselect All button.
  11. If, for security reasons, we don't allow applications to access the internet, we now have to *wait* every time we manually update CCleaner because it phones home at startup. This makes sense for users wishing to get the most updated version but it could be resolved by simply giving us a Disable Update and Deselect All option, 1. So we don't have to wait for CCleaner to figure out it is blocked from accessing the internet to only then proceed with install and 2. So we don't have to manually uncheck all five Install Options if we're manually updating secure machines so can we please have DISABLE UPDATE and UNCHECK ALL in the lower right corner of the install window?
  12. The author is correct with his default approach, we're not trying to change that; uncheck all button would solve the problem.
  13. 1. People who do not allow applications to access the internet for security reasons manually *update*. 2. When they do, they UNCHECK ALL because all options are already there from the previous version they are updating. THey are *not* installing, just updating. This is why UNCHECK ALL is essential.
  14. Giving us UNCHECK ALL would make it greater. I hope the author considers it.
  15. 1. It's easier to uncheck all > check that one option. 2. People would use uncheck all if they have a custom icon for CCleaner. 3. C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" /AUTO is my desktop link, not the link to the program options which I set once.
  16. Instead of manually unchecking all five Install Options, can we please have UNCHECK ALL in the lower right corner of the install window?
  17. Can there be a table that clearly outlines the differences b/w slim/standard/full versions?
  18. In Windows 7, you can Pin My Computer to the Start Menu. It then also displays the Recent places you've visited which are not being cleaned by CCleaner 2.22. Please consider adding this feature if it can be done. Detailed instructions: 1. Windows 7 Start Button > Properties > UNCHECK: Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu. 2. Right click on any *program* shortcut > Pin to Start Menu. 3. Edit the shortcut you just pinned inside the Start Menu: Right click on it in Start Menu > Properties > change the Target value so that it reads Target: %windir%\explorer.exe /root,,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} Delete everything next to Start in: and rename the shortcut name in General TAB. It'll then also display the places you recently visited on your computer. That needs to be cleaned if possible. Thank you.
  19. P.S. An option (not enabled by default) that inserts a right click Shred command (with confirmation dialog) is what we really need.
  20. Changes in CCleaner v2.15.815: - Added command-line secure deletion. e.g. CCleaner.exe /delete "folder\*.*|MyFile.txt" Well there we go! So now all we have to do is create a shortcut with that command line. What is the command line for recycle bin so that when you double click on a shortcut, it shreds the recycle bin (which affects all drives.)
  21. ...except there's a confirmation dialog asking you to confirm before you nuke a file or a folder As a matter of fact I do have have Shred in my right click, and I did accidentally click it a few times but the confirmation dialog prevented any accidents. The right click Shred is a leftover from CCleaner's rival program Window Washer. The only reason I still haven't uninstalled it yet is that it has right click Shred option which CCleaner lacks....
  22. That is certainly a workaround, simply delete, then run CCleaner options to set the 'Secure file deletion' option. Thanks for the suggestion. Of course this applies to all contents of the Recycle Bin and may it may take significantly longer to wipe all contents *all the time*. But I think we're clear with the conclusions that CCleaner can shred a file or a folder but only through a long process of manually setting the shred option for the Recycle Bin then turning it off when done. Automated execution with one click is what we're looking for and I hope the programmers consider adding this useful feature in future versions! Thanks again.
  23. Yeah, if files are on the same partition. If not, they're copied, defeating the purpose. The program already wipes data. Does it take a lot to simply include an *option* (it doesn't have to be by default) just an option to tell the program with a right click to wipe a specific file or folder, since the actual function is already there?
