  1. What about some of the other boxes in Preferences? Also, for some reason, when I enable the "Start when Windows Starts" box, that setting doesn't hold. Each time I reboot, it seems to clear that setting and the Updater doesn't load into my system tray. Do you have the same problem?
  2. Andavari . . . how do you have things set in the Preference tab of your OpenDNS Updater?
  3. Thanks for the info, Andavari. I hate to show my ingnorance, but you and DennisD have chosen to use OpenDNS. Why? What DNS server were you using prior to that change -- who provides it -- is it your ISP? Obviously, we're all using something, I'm just trying to figure out who normally provides that and why you decided to change?
  4. I'm thinking about trying OpenDNS myself, Andavari. Where did you find the Updater? By the way, I was having the same problem with FF 3 (very annoying), so I actually went back to the latest version of FF2 -- much better!
  5. I'm using AntiVir 9 Premium with no effect on speed -- but I'm not using IE8. If you're also using FF3, that could be part of your problem -- at least it was for me. It was definitely a slow loader -- not 3 minutes -- but slow enough to cause me to go back to FF2. And now, I'm a happy camper once again .
  6. Did a little more checking . . . this is probably the answer.
  7. Thanks, Andavari. What I really was interested in is what software was being used to put the arrows and comments on the thumbnail.
  8. Rob, this is way off topic, but I'm curious what you used to annotate your thumbnail?
  9. A number of people around here use CleanMem
  10. I'm not answering for abu aufa, but they probably both do a pretty good job. However, the Auslogic version may provide a little more registry information for the user -- and it definitely has a much more attractive interface (GUI). Other than that, abu will have to respond for himself.
  11. I've had my fair share of this stalling and unresponsive mouse stuff (especially on this site) -- particularly since upgrading to Firefox 3.06 from 2.0.0.20 about a 10 days ago. Seems even worse when I run FF Sandboxed. Didn't really notice it much with FF 2.0.0.20 -- even Sandboxed.
  12. Anyone else having a problem accessing the FileHippo site, or is it on my end?
  13. Does Eraser only wipe "previously deleted files" -- or will it delete files and then wipe as well?
  14. You might have a look a Macrium Reflect. Several people on this forum use it.

    Firefox 3.06

    Firefox 3.06 just released.
  16. Obviously, that crossed my mind. The only problem is that I now have some things configured in Sandboxie that I'm not sure I would remember how to re-create.
  17. Since I updated to Sandboxie 3.34 a few days ago, for some reason, I've been experiencing quite a few FireFox 2 annoyances (incomplete page loads, longer than usual delays, freezing up, etc.). Not totally sure this is due to the update, but it sure seems like it could be. Maybe there's just some sort of incompatibility thing with my machine. Is it possible to "downdate" to a previous version? I don't really recall having any of these problems with v 3.32. Just wondered if I could just try re-installing 3.32 over the top of 3.34?
  18. What are your system specs? Sounds like Humpty has somewhat of a muscle machine.
  19. Is that for real, Humpty? My FF2 takes about 4 seconds to load normal -- and about 14 seconds to load sandboxed. Guess something isn't quite right here either??
  20. Some examples of those you don't like as well, please.

    Using RegEdit?

There are several software programs that have not been installed on my computer for years. However, I keep finding references to them every now and then -- even after running Ccleaner's Registry Cleaner and Registry Mechanic. Many of them even still show up in the Application section of CCleaner. Is it safe to find the folders referencing these various programs under the "Software" section in RegEdit and simply delete them? If that's OK, I assume that deleting them will clean up the problem so that they're no longer found. Right?
  22. Now that I think of it, is there any reason I even need QuickTime or QuickTime Alternative if I'm not dealing with QuickTime movie files?
