What happened to the forums?

Any ideas what has happened? Rollback or something, because there are missing threads, posts (including my own) and my personal messages from last visit.

Also the forums were down the whole day, not sure but probably over 10 hours?

This morning I received 7 notifications of posts to several topics.

Have only just been able to log-on - Google could not find the forum till now.

The email notifications take me to the correct topics, but I only see the previous posts I have already seen.

I still have my personal messages.

Hi Guys

Hardware failure in the Invisionboard server room. Whole machine went away so they moved our forum to another. Unfortunately they had to use the last backup they had (and they're done per daily basis, so that's the reason for the rollback)

Advanced users might notice that the IP of the forum has changed because the DNS had to be updated.

Sorry for the problems, not our fault :(

Sever errors by the looks of it.

You can check on the status of the IPBoard servers by going here

This is what I got most of today... sorry cannot upload picture (must still be some issues) so will use pixpipline instead

I've been piecing together some of the old posts (via the email reply notification systems wonderful "put the whole post in the email" system)

if other could do the same with their ERN from yesterday we may get some info back

(sadly one of the things that went missing was the fun, great, and important conversation "Stop the US from censoring the Internet!" I'd love it if somebody either has that entire converstion or restarted it :) )

Hazel I can confirm your dual uploader issue on IE9 latest flash 11

On basic it shows uploading but does not attach to post

On Flash get "The server returned an error during upload"

perhaps a folder permission error on the linux side of the server for the attachment folder?

I've been away and haven't been on much for the last week, and I missed the forum being down, but I haven't escaped from the missing posts sadly.

And with being in front of my sons computer when I made them, I didn't bookmark the links I provided for a couple of threads.

@ Alan B

Alan, you don't by chance have a copy of our missing replies in this thread ...

... I used the full email notification until I jettisoned it just a couple of weeks ago. Sods law strikes again. :(

Dennis

I think I do not get notifications of replies that I have seen before the emails are dispatched, including my own replies.

I remember using the phrase that a SanDisk Cruzer with a special MBR is a whole different can of worms,

and that SnaDisk technical support or their user forum might be a good source of help.

I remember your response that this was a good point.

Working through recent notifications in my Gmail Trash Can I now find :-

Hi Rob.

Sorry for the delay but I'm away from home at the moment.

Have a look at the first example of using TestDisk here ...

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Data_Recovery_Examples

It appears to be your problem exactly. See if you can do anything with the suggested fix below the 2nd hatched window.

I'll get back to this when I get back home, and in the meantime if any of the other guys can help, I'm sure they will.

A bit offtopic, but my dad was grateful when I recovered his videos with TestDisk (from camcorder), so I'd also recommend that.

Though, I had some problems; some of the videos/files were at bad (/corrupted) condition. I tried some trial software to see if converting the video works for those files, and it did (.m2ts -> .avi). Haven't had time to test other software, but I just downloaded Sony Vegas Pro 11 Trial and see if it'll work.

Regards

Alan

Sadly Internet Archive's last snapshot was NOV 2010 (I think they only publish 1year old and older though)

It's kinda a funny look back to last year though

http://web.archive.o...m.com/index.php

and we weren't fast enough in claiming google's cache which is already updated to today (mental note next server crash pull as much as we can from google's cache)

Had some problems again today. When tried to come here (forum.piriform.com) it redirected me to site https://www.sppcss.org/.

I've some screenshots, before the redirect I refreshed some thread/forums and gave me this:

And new visit/refresh redirected to the other site:

Flash Uploader working now for me, test below.

I have flushed, released and renewed my dns and cleaned all caches. All seems okay now.

I had the same as nodles this morning, I wondered why SouthWest Power wanted me to sign in

I also got a warning about the validity of SouthWest Power's security certificate :o

Whole machine went away so they moved our forum to another.

In the wee hours of this morning I had thought this place was hacked until I looked up that .org address it was redirecting to and found out it was completely legit, that coupled along with Piriform.com being up and running made it very clear it was a forum issue only.

With allot of the forum issues from the upgrade to now this, is Piriform ever thinking of switching forum brands?

I don't think switching brands (other than the fact that the forum is currently being hosted by the brand's manufacuterer I believe) would have fixed the issues the otherday, when a server goes down a server goes down. If there is no mirror (especially if it is on a some sort of shared v-server) than fried is only retrievable to the previous backup (in this case 1 day)
