sonewbie
I want to download CCleaner but I'm not sure which one to download. Can you help me? I'm starting to understand the computer(sorta)somewhat. When it comes to registry & the like....duh! So I need the simplest download. Thanks. dw
Moderators hazelnut Posted August 22, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 22, 2011 Scroll here to the bottom of the page and select ccleaner-slim build. Download it and select either your downloads folder or your desktop to save the download to. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds When installed don't bother using the registry cleaner part for a while, it's best to leave that bit alone 'til you understand it a bit better. Leave things at default, no sense in adding extra ticks ! sonewbie
Thanks for replying so fast. I downloading the slim version & did a analyze& a bunch of stuff came up, I started to run ccleaner, but it said all of it would be deleted. Seems like some of those I would need to keep. More help needed......dw
Moderators hazelnut Posted August 22, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 22, 2011 The things the cleaner cleans are mainly temp files from browsers and software you may have installed, windows logs files etc. These are things that you don't usually need on your system. It doesn't delete the programs ..just the temp and log files belonging to them. What items concern you? sonewbie
ninja'd by Andavari All ok. I have those 3 items ☑ticked and CC cleans them for me. where do I click the items off? man! I really feel stupid! I figured it out, after the analyze, click on the items that you don't want to lose, right?? dw
kroozer
You tick ☑ the items you want always cleaned, then click Analyze. After the results appear under ANALYSIS COMPLETE, click Run Cleaner, or you can right-click individual items and Clean.

Super Fast
You tick ☑ the items you want always cleaned, then click Analyze. I didn't happen to think of it at the time, but how did you input the ☑ into your sentence? I can copy & paste it into it, but is it a special font you used, or did you copy it from a website graphic, or local pc graphic somewhere? Moderators Andavari Posted September 16, 2011 Moderators Share Posted September 16, 2011 I don't know where she got that checkbox thing, however you can use all kinds of different characters on forums by opening the Character Map: Start > Run > charmap then just copy+paste. Super Fast
Thanks Andavari! I asked, cause I checked charactermap earlier, and I did not see it listed in there, unless it is under some kind of font that I missed. Character Map is good, though.
