A little out of the train of thought currently rolling here.

I remember a while back there was an entry or something to do with deleting recycle-bin logs. Why was this taken out? Was there a specific problem it caused?

recycle-bin logs?

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

[Recycle Bin Logs (Drive C:)*]

LangSecRef=3025

Default=True

DetectFile=C:\RECYCLER\

FileKey1=C:\RECYCLER\|*.*|RECURSE

Just curious that's all.

When the file with the title like -- "S-1-5-21-1012598097-1492342706-15185329643-1002" -- which resides in the RECYCLER directory is deleted, it takes the preferences with it. The preference I'm talking about is found here:

On Windows XP SP3 Desktop

Right click on the Recycle Bin

Select properties

And configure drives independently

The tick mark box for "Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted." becomes non-sticky and clears itself after running CCleaner + winapp2.ini + that entry.

I don't remember where I got it from. Quite possibly right here. Ahh yes yes right here -- http://forum.pirifor...44

Somehow this got into my winapp2.ini file, how? I don't know and I don't care. For all I know I could have copy/pasted it in myself. Or used some updater or something. It was around the time when I first started using winapp2.ini about a year ago did some lengthy customization.

Yes yes. I got to experimenting around and had a moment of insanity for some obscure reason and in a fit I seemingly forgot about it. It remained part of my cut-n-paste set of custom entries for a long time. I always wondered why this check box option for determining the fate of files dumped into the bin would would seemingly keep changing on its own.

See.. Whenever a new winapp2.ini comes out. I go ahead and grab it. And I keep a text file of my own set of tried and true "specific-to-my-system" entries. I then merge the two together creating a SUPER winapp2.ini file, if you will.. And this got buried in there. Somehow. Anyways, after a quick search on Google I couldn't find anything remotely called a "Recycle Bin log" or similar. The closest thing would be the index.dat types of files and other areas of the system which are beyond the scope of this post.

Teach me but good and dandy that I don't know more than other people is the wrong way to think! I typically review changes and I don't add things to my setups arbitrarily but this was one of those times I did. Frakk it!

wait that recycler thing seems dangerous and why would people want to delete that preference?!?

and renew my

second what logs there are no Recycle bin logs

third The Recycle bin (and yes that is everything in the hidden system files of C:\Recycler) is already cleaned by ccleaner in it's default state

Correct! You don't want this recycle bin thing in winapp2.ini at all! It could be a security issue because it changes how the recycle bin behaves on removable HDD's too! So do not include it! Sorry I ever brought attention to the entry.

The entry I showed seems to delete something that is related to protected storage provider and when the symbolic link is deleted parts of the registry change. I'm too busy now to fully research it.
