Wave Pad* double entry as well

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

i did but I couldn't figure out a graceful way to do it. Thanks for the contributions so far though! :)

How about creating an empty file "New Entries.txt" when you issue a new version of Winapp2.ini

and simply adding to "New Entries.txt" every new proposed entry,

and incorporate with each entry a double ;; comment showing the source, e.g. the post #number and author.

That could be updated and on-line (read-only) for those who want to "chance their arm",

and it might be a more convenient compilation than dozens of individual posts for those who have the ability to refine or warn of consequences.

It could also contain complaints from those who "chanced the arm" and got it broken :wacko:

N.B. a single line DOS command can remove every instance of a double ;; comment line from a file without removing single ; comments lines.

Let's see, for now I've got:

LangSecRef=Games

Should be

Section=Games

for each of these entries:

  • Bugsplat
  • Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
  • Don't Starve
  • Faster Than Light
  • Hi-Rez Studios
  • Torchlight 2
  • Tribes: Ascend

Cheers.

EDIT: Oh, and a new entry, for calibre's search cache.

[Calibre Cache*]

Default=False
FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\calibre-cache\jsbrowser\data*|*.*|RECURSE

And by the way, perhaps you should remove the MD5 checksum on the first post if you aren't updating it regularly, it could make a few paranoid people suspicious. ;) Unless of course it is correct, and my hasher is not. Or I'm a victim of a MitM by someone intent on skewing my cleaning definitions... truly evil. :(

md5sums.exe is outputting "06abc5621b21f22d396de0b2a27280ef" as the hash from the winapp2.ini download in the main post. Also matches www.winapp2.com/hash.txt

There's a problem with the .ini. It messes my Chrome/Comodo Dragon settings.

How to reproduce:

In Chome/CD go to settings and delete any links from: Open a specific page or set of pages, then switch to Open the New Tab page. Close the browser. Make sure you have all the options for Google Chrome checked in Applications, Ccleaner. Start cleaning. After it's done, run the browser. You'll get an error that the profile could not be loaded, all your settings, extensions are back to default.

Any way to fix it? It definitely deletes something that it shouldn't.

I suggest you start your own topic,

stating version of Windows and specific version numbers of Chrome/Comodo and CCleaner.exe and WinApp2.ini.

It would be a waste of time and effort if posts dealing with your issue are intermingled in this topic with its main function of submissions for new entries.

Alan is incorrect, if you are sure that this is definitely due to a Chrome Entry that resides on the winapp2.ini file and not the built in Chrome rules, you asked in the proper thread

I'd recommend going through this process with each chrome entry ticked one at a time (or unticking one at a time) until you find which one(s) are causing it.

I am attempting to track down what WinApp2.ini entry is causing the system Task Scheduler to experience Event ID 114 on scheduled tasks that run via the Task Scheduler. If anyone has any clues or feedback on what entry might be causing this, please "point me in the right direction". Below is a more detailed description of the issue. I use my "Casper" system backup program as the example; however, the problem affects all programs in the Task Scheduler. My systems are Windows 7 and Windows 8.

- I have Casper set up in the Task Scheduler to run every Tuesday and Saturday at 3:00 a.m. to copy my primary operating system to a separate bootable backup drive.

- In the Task Scheduler on the Settings tab, I have "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed" selected.

- The Task Scheduler works correctly and runs Casper on Tuesday and Saturday at the prescribed times.

- The time/date of the Casper run is properly displayed via the Task Scheduler under "Last Run Time".

- The time/date of the next scheduled Casper execution is properly displayed via the Task Scheduler under "Next Run Time"

- When I run CCleaner after the above Casper execution, the "Last Run Time" is cleared out and "Never" now shows as the "Last Run Time".

- On system reboot, this causes the Task Scheduler to think that Casper did not run when scheduled (Event ID 114). And it then runs Casper as directed via the option "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed".

I am going through the process of elimination under the Applications tab of CCleaner; however, in the interest of time I am posting this "request for assistance". :unsure:

I strongly recommend that the entry Windows SCM Logs* be removed from WinApp2.ini because it causes the Event ID 114 failure in the system Task Scheduler as described above.
