What happened to this project? http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=24837

Seems to be pretty useful but the download link is not working anymore.

For example: I found all this crap on my PC where such a tool would be very helpful.

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat.LOG1
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat.LOG2
%LocalAppData%\Opera\Opera\upgrade.log
%LocalAppData%\Overwolf\Log\InstallerTrace.log
%LocalAppData%\Overwolf\Log\MSI_2013_9_14_18_55.log.gz
%LocalAppData%\Overwolf\Log\Trace.log
%LocalAppData%\Packard Bell\InfoCtr\*.log
%LocalAppData%\Packard Bell\iUpdator\*.log
%LocalAppData%\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird\updates\backup-update.log
%LocalAppData%\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird\updates\last-update.log
%AppData%\I2P\wrapper.log
%AppData%\LockHunter\LockHunter.log.txt
%AppData%\Mozilla\B2G\Profiles\*\marionette.log
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*\PreferencesCleaner\pcln.log
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*\marionette.log
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*\startup.log
%AppData%\Padman\wop\games.log
Question: What about %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore ? Does CCleaner scan this folder? It contains files from program folders that the program could not access because of missing administrative rights.

Very advanced entry (not happy with that):

I don't get that "Common" folder, and I've used Inno Setup for years.

The program installers that use older versions of Inno Setup create a useless folder and sub folder at that location.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

removing the files in \windows\help should be OK, you'll just get an error when trying to view a help file.

but the folder itself should not be removed.

Plus mine is only 43meg with 42 of that being nvidia help files - not a big saving.

When to use Recurse and when to use Removeself? I don't quite understand https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/advanced-usage/ccleaner-ini-files/how-to-add-your-own-program-for-ccleaner-to-clean (Sorry for dumb questions).

+1 on adding the Steam Cookies and cache and adding tf2 entries. I also noticed the steam .old files in there. Wasn't for sure what the resembled, but I deleted them off my system a few days ago and steam is running just fine.

@SMalik

is there any reason why you split the entries?

I guess it's just for a better overall view.

@SMalik

+1 For the cached certificates. If that works it would be great. I have like 10.000 files in these folders.

There is no reason to be judgmental. SMalik did a very good job at finding more system files that are useless. Winapp2 hasn't had many new system file updates lately.

I am looking at the Peerblock entry and for some reason, it's not being detected on my system, meaning the entry isn't showing up in the cleaner.

[Peerblock*]
LangSecRef=3024
DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\Peerblock
FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\Peerblock|*.log;History.db;*.bak;cache.p2b

My path directory is located in ProgramFiles (not x86) then under PeerBlock. I did not find any registry keys or appdata in relation to Peerblock. Anyone have any idea why it's not being detected on my system?

The normal rules are that "C:\Program Files (x86)" is only used by 32 bit applications on a 64 bit system,

and "C:\Program Files" is used by 32 bit Windows and 64 bit applications on 64 bit Windows.

But rules is rules and they are there to be broken :rolleyes:
