Export and import settings and cookie lists

CCleaner is a wonderful utility.

Is there any way to be able to export the safe-cookie list as the custom files and folder lists such that these could be re-imported back in case of a system reinstall?

Am using CCleaner v2.26.1050 on a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine.

Regards and TIA.

Hi Jyanendra, and welcome to Piriform.

Yes, you can go to "Options\Advanced", and check the "Save all settings to INI file" box.

Then go to "C:\Program Files\CCleaner" and copy the "ccleaner.ini" file to wherever you want to keep the backup. That ini file contains all your settings.

Great! That is a settings option I had never even noticed before! Thanks for pointing it out.

I expect that in case of a system reinstall I can set CCleaner to save settings similarly and then substitute with the saved settings file.

Regards and thanks.

Hi Jyanendra.

It isn't just a backup function in CCleaner, it's just one of the two alternatives for saving settings. You can either have CCleaner save it's settings into the registry, or opt for the "Save to INI" file option.

There's no reason why you can't leave that as a permanent setting. It's my choice of the two, and you can still install a new version of CCleaner over the top of the old one without losing those settings.

Or, just tick that box to enable you to save a separate backup, and then untick it again. The choice is yours. (That sounds like a line from an old game show on TV).
